Allthe stated items could be provided by the various clinical sites in an emergency situation.

The Dental Assisting program will notify contracted clinical sites that we have partnership to determine how much

additional clinical hours can be utilized to be substituted for lab instructions time.The Angel platfom will be utilized

for online instructions and testing.Vendors will be immediately notified to recver any lost equipment needed.

Donations may be requested. Classrooms for lectures could be on the Griffin campus,Butts campus, Flint campus or

Henry campus.

vault and can be accessed at any time. Student�s files are also scanned in aXs or Imaging system.

Office of Admission also has the ability to collect students� information by using paper forms

and accepting document as need to accept the students for school and enter it into the system

The mission of the adult education program is to enable every adult learner in Southern Crescent

Technical College�s delivery area to acquire the necessary basic skills � reading, writing, computation,

speaking, and listening � to compete successfully in today's workplace, strengthen family foundations,

and exercise full citizenship.

The Adult Education division also oversees the administration of the GED Tests.

Function Description:

Adult Education maintains critical student data, including contact information, attendance information

and pre/post-test data in GALIS, Georgia�s statewide adult literacy information system. All data from a

given week is to be entered into the program by the Tuesday of the following week. It is possible, in

certain events, that data could be lost before it�s entered into GALIS, but our local policy for timely input

minimizes the loss of information. Permanent files are maintained, per state and federal requirements.

Most information in these files is duplicated in GALIS. The completion of required documents (FY

intake forms and Verification of Eligibility for Public Benefit) can be completed by those students

remaining in classes for that fiscal year. Test scores can be printed from GALIS.

students unable to attend a physical classroom, in the event a county has to be temporarily relocated,

could continue enrollment and accumulation of contact hours, even if they are unable to attend a class.

GED Testing, conducted in the two Southern Crescent Technical College Pearson Vue labs, can be

moved to one location temporarily if necessary. Upson and Spalding counties are the two current sites for

Pearson Vue computer labs. Should both sites be impacted and deemed unable for use for testing, GED

Testing staff can work with Pearson Vue to create another testing site. Testing at correctional facilities is

Recovery Strategy Overview:

In the event of a major disaster, repair to facilities becomes a very high priority. Assuming

immediate funding is made available to effect repairs of damaged buildings and holdings, the

amount of time to make repairs varies. A total building loss could take months to replace and

depending on the amount of damage sustained to a building in any given disaster the amount of

time to repair that building may vary as well. Again, architects and Mechanical/Structural

engineers will be called to assess the integrity of a damaged building or buildings on campus.

Once the amount of damage has been assessed and all safety concerns have been addressed,

Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing contractors will be called in to provide estimates for repair.

One must consider the contents of a building damaged or totally lost in a disaster. A total

building loss may also mean a total building contents loss. Again, with the necessary funding,

the Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment (FF&E) can be replaced.

Maximum Allowable Downtime (MAD): 24 hours to 18 months

Currently mail is received by the U.S. Postal Service Daily Monday through Thursday. Mail is

received and delivered internally to mail boxes on campuses and at centers. Typically this duty

is performed by personnel in the media center or by administrative assistants. Mail that is

required to be delivered from campus to campus or from centers to campuses is done so through

the college�s mail courier service.

The delivery of mail internally and externally may be disrupted somewhat in the event of a

disaster. This disruption would primarily affect delivery to personnel occupying the building or

buildings damaged in a disaster event. However, once personnel have been reassigned as

needed by the college divisions, mail delivery could resume.

In the event of a major disaster, restoring utilities to a college campus or a college center may not

be at the top of a utility provider�s priority list. Contact information is provided in Appendix E

for all utility providers serving the college campuses and centers. This contact information is

also located on the intranet and is backed up on thumb drives. A hard copy of the recovery plan

is located in the office of Facilities and Operations.

Natural gas-fed backup generators which serve as an emergency electrical power backup to the

networking rooms at the Griffin and Thomaston Campuses and supply the voice and data centers

at each location. These power generating units are tested weekly and are routinely serviced by

the college�s maintenance staff. Additionally there is an annual preventive maintenance service

performed on the emergency backup generators by certified service personnel.

Utility providers will be called in order to restore utilities to the campus and local contractors--

such as electricians, plumbers, and mechanical contractors ---will be contacted in the event

internal utility systems have been compromised by the disaster. Depending on the condition of

the buildings, architectural firms may be contacted to provide assessments in areas of

Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing systems in the damaged building or buildings.

Special Services Department is charged with providing assistance and access to resources on and off

campus to Special Populations and students with disabilities as they endeavor to reach their educational

*Special population supports and serves students who are from economically disadvantaged families,

including foster children, preparing for non-traditional fields, limited English proficient, and single

parents, including single pregnant women, displaced homemakers, or disabled individual including.

Special Populations Services offer a wide range of support services that may include, but not limited to,

admissions and career counseling, assessments, textbook lending, tutoring, mentoring, and community

resource referrals. The program also offers workshops and seminars that deal with life management

issues, academic preparation and career testing, and exploration.

*Disabilities Services involve working with people who have a physical or mental impairment that

substantially limits one or more life activities including walking, talking, seeing, hearing, breathing,

learning, and working; has a record of such an impairment, and is regarded as having such impairments.

Some common disabilities are hearing and visual impairments psychiatric/psychological disabilities

specific learning disabilities closed head injury. They can refer students to the appropriate resource

agency at the expense of the student, if there is a fee involved. Fees are not required for our services, but

I. GENERAL

Business continuity planning ensures the maintenance of critical operations when confronted

with adverse events such as natural disasters, technology failures, human errors, or terrorism.

The objectives of a business continuity plan are to minimize loss to the organization, continue to

serve customers, and maintain administrative operations. Southern Crescent Technical College

has an obligation to protect and provide for employees, students, volunteers, visitors, vendors

and contractors in the event of a major interruption to the mission or operation. This obligation

also extends to those of each campus/center.

The Business Continuity Plan (BCP) is executed after health, life, and safety issues are

addressed. At minimum, the BCP assumes the following have been restored:

-Health and life safety support (law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical service

support)

-Utilities, to include reasonable climate control, and adequate lighting

-Access to and egress from work unit or technical college facilities

-Safe handling and proper disposal of hazardous materials

The BCP contains clear strategies and procedures needed to continue operations and execute a

recovery in the event of an interruption that compromises the ability of Southern Crescent

Technical College to carry out its critical mission functions. The determination that an

interruption has occurred may be made by Southern Crescent Technical College or the TCSG

System Office.

Commonly accepted components of a Business Continuity Plan include:

Business Impact Analysis – identifies critical business processes, assigns estimates of

maximum allowable downtime, and designates priorities for restoration.

Risk Assessment – identifies specific threats, assesses vulnerability to those threats, and

assigns degree of risk associated with each threat.

Risk Management/Business Continuity Planning – utilizes the Risk Assessment to

determine which risks should be managed; and provides a written, widely disseminated,

and exercised plan on actions necessary to get the business up and running in the event of

disruption associated with those risks.

Exercise and Review – establishes mechanisms to exercise the BCP and make

appropriate revisions.

II. BUSINESS IMPACT ANALYSIS

The first step in business continuity planning is determining critical mission functions and the

interdependencies between those processes that must continue to exist for Southern Crescent

Technical College to function. Critical mission functions may fall into one of three general

categories:

Safety and Security - Activities needed to sustain a safe and secure environment for

students, faculty, staff, the visiting public, and surrounding community, potentially for an

extended period.

Business Support Services - Activities that maintain necessary business operations,

safeguard assets, and ensure the financial viability of Southern Crescent Technical

College. Examples include payroll, revenue collection, accounts payable, and financial

reporting.

Learning and Instruction - Activities that carry out or directly support the academic or

workforce development mission of Southern Crescent Technical College. For example,

student support services, training and instruction.

III. RISK ASSESSMENT

The second step of business continuity planning, risk assessment, determines the potential

hazards that could affect Southern Crescent Technical College, assess the likelihood of their

occurrence, and analyze vulnerability to that hazard. This analysis then forms the basis for

preparing the BCP. In general, more time and resources are dedicated planning for and, where

possible, mitigating emergencies that are judged to have both a high probability of occurrence

and a high level of severity.

The risk assessment should address both the impacts on Southern Crescent Technical College as

a whole, as well as those on the operating unit level. The impacts may differ. For example, the

occurrence of a major fire that affects the entire College may be judged to have a small

probability, while the probability of a fire affecting a specific campus/center that may lack

adequate fire prevention measures may be large.

The planning process must address each hazard that poses a threat. Examples of hazards include

both natural hazards, as well as technological or man-made hazards. Natural hazards include,

but are not limited to: flood, fire, extreme weather (hurricane, tornado, lightening), or

earthquake. Technological or man-made hazards may include: utility/telecommunication failure;

structural collapse; fire; hazardous materials; major vehicle accident; train accident; air crash;

pandemic disease; active shooter; hostage situation; public assembly emergency; civil

disturbance or terrorism.

IV. RISK MANAGEMENT/BUSINESS CONTINUITY PLANNING

A Business Continuity Plan Worksheet (Appendix D) should be completed for each critical

mission function identified. Southern Crescent Technical College will determine the degree to

which business continuity planning is consolidated across multiple campuses/centers. This

decision will be based on factors such as commonality of business process, size of the division,

etc. However, all identified critical mission functions must be addressed by a BCP Worksheet.

Operating units should take into account the possibility that Southern Crescent Technical College

college-wide interruption may affect multiple campuses/centers. In these situations, operating

unit interdependence or commonality of external suppliers to provide its critical functions should

be coordinated to ensure these suppliers or units also have a business continuity plan.

Southern Crescent Technical College will submit the BCP Signature Page and Overview

(Appendix A); Risk Assessment (Appendix B); Critical Mission Function Chart (Appendix C);

Business Continuity Plan Worksheet (Appendix D); and Emergency/Utility Contacts (Appendix

E) to the TCSG System Office. The input of this information into the Living Disaster Recovery

Planning System (LDRPS) system will constitute the BCP of Southern Crescent Technical

College and will become a part of the overall Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) for Southern

Crescent Technical College.

V. EXERCISE AND REVIEW

Business Continuity Plans must be exercised and individual affected by the BCP must be trained

so they may fulfill the responsibilities. Southern Crescent Technical College should plan for,

implement and document these processes and use the results of evaluation of the exercises to

inform the annual revision of the BCP. These annual revisions will be submitted to the TCSG

System Office not later than May 1 of each calendar year.
