Bannack PortraitsBannack, Montana is a proper ghost town in every sense
of the word. Abandoned? Check. Ghost stories? Check.
Creepy premonitions in certain houses? Check. I brought
some models with me and we took pictures with a variety of
lighting--both natural and unnatural (flashes, reflectors, and
strobes). Nothing supernatural, though.

I also took these photos in
Bannack. I used Adobe Photoshop to
help me figure out my vision of a floating
“ghost”, and the place where she was
‘born’. I was inspired by the story a guide
told us about a girl who drowned in
the river and was later seen by her
sister in the hotel.

I have loved flowers for as long as I
can remember. In the beginning of
my journey as a photographer, I often
chose them for my subjects, because
I could get close, and they would
stay still. Flowers are a great
reminder for me that life &
beauty are fleeting, and that
it’s okay to stop & smell the
roses--if I get a picture first.

HDRHDR is a special technique where I take multiple
exposures of the same photo, and combine them
in Adobe Photoshop for a more color-rich image.
I took the image below in Bannock, Montana, and
the image to the right in Glenwood, Utah.

... and FreezeI remember the first time I was able to
capture motion on my camera without it looking
like a blurry mess. I was so excited to understand
how shutter speed works. Photography is
about keeping a single moment forever,
and I love seeing the blur of action and
the intimate instant of a frozen
second in time.

Perspectives of 12 Christmas Display
An exciting part
of the photography process
is choosing a subject. Finding
unique perspectives of the same
subject (in this case, a Christmas
display) can be a fun challenge.
I only used natural lighting to
achieve these images.

Camille Du ParI fell in love with photography about the same time “selfie” became a
word in the dictionary. Taking pictures lets me share my perspective with
other people through the lens of my camera. I’m always looking up--
literally and figuratively. I believe beauty is everywhere, and this is how I
make my mark.
All of the images in this book are
from my blog, and the layouts were
designed by me, Camille Du Par.
