PAST PHOTOS
Anyone can take photographs. There
are so many tools to a person’s disposal in
our day in age to take great photographs.
Before I began digital photography I
used a simple point-and-shoot camera.
The kind of camera you could easily buy
at a Costco or Walmart.
I felt my photography was amazing.
Little did I know how limited my
photography was. Not solely because
of my equipment, but because of my
knowledge of the vital principles of
photography. Principles such as exposure,
depth of field, lighting, composition, etc.
Once I began to learn about these
principles, my photography leapt beyond
bounds. See for yourself. Compare my
past to my present photography.
MOTION
Motion is a style of photography that enables you to capture time and movement. Knowing how to
use shutter speed is critical in capturing the correct shot of motion.
For a freeze motion capture, a high shutter speed is required to capture the subject moving and to
preserve the focus of the object in motion. Basically, you “freeze” the subject and time.
For a blur motion capture, a slow shutter speed is needed. A slower shutter speed results in the
camera lens being open for a longer period of time. As the camera tries to capture the subject in motion
over this period of time, the subject appears blurred as the lens lets in more light. In this method, you
capture time as it passes.

UP CLOSE & PERSONAL
Macro Photography enables a photographer to capture detail in
amazing focus. This requires the right kind of tools and lighting.
To capture pristine macro photographs one needs a macro tube
or macro lens for a camera. Once the equipment is properly attached,
you need to approach the subject. This is where “Up Close & Personal”
comes into play. The photographer must get extremely close to the
subject after having increased his focal length to the maximum.
Once in position the photographer must adjust the focus manually
to capture what detail is desired. Adjustment of the exposure manipulates
whether the foreground or background is in focus. Lighting can be tricky.
As such, it’s important to have an LED light or another light source to
illuminate detail that is dark and not visible to the eye.
PORTRAITS
Taking portraitures is one of my favorite
aspects of photography. Proper exposure, shutter
speed, and positioning of the camera and subject
yield the greatest fruits of portraiture.
In the moment the photo is taken, a moment
of life is captured. I feel portraiture preserves the
memory of person. As long as that photograph
lasts, you hold in your hands or hang in your home
the memory of that person.
That’s the beauty of portraiture. It’s capturing
life in the moment.

TYPOGRAPHY
Typography and photography is a powerful combination.
Photography can easily convey emotion. When combined with
typography a photographer can convey a greater message, even a
hidden one that is not easily seen by the eye.
By empowering photography with typography I share
messages that I learn from observing the world around me.
Whether it’s an ordinary object or a person standing beside a
mountain these moments captured with a camera and coupled with
typography make a photograph a special message.
LEVITATION
Levitiation photography is a mind blowing result of simple steps. That’s
what made me want to do it when I first saw it.
What is even more mind-blowing about levitation photography is how
easy it is to create.
Would you believe me if I told you that all I used to create this photo
was a stool, my camera, a tripod, and Adobe Photoshop?

Every shot in photography is meaningful, to the viewer and especially to me. My
photography means more than capturing the norm or typical shot. It means capturing
the memory and personality of a person through portraiture, the tiny details in macro
photography, tricking the mind in levitation photography, and seeing a subject from all
different angles in perspective photography. I make you and what you want captured
meaningful and extraordinary.
