Pouvoir, vouloir, savoir, trois mots qui mènent le monde

Victor Hugo

In 2010, after pursuing a fulfilling teaching career in France and in the United States, I decided to

create Prépa Climax, and to set off – along with our faculty and our students – on a new and exciting

adventure.

Today, our institution has become one of the leading university preparatory schools in France.

The success of our programs originates from the quality of our training and the competency of our

team – composed of leading international experts and prolific academic researchers –, from an

adaptive, student- and project-oriented approach, and thanks to the

benefits of an ideal work environment, right next to the Palace of

Laurent Berthet is the founder and director of Climax Education. He holds a PhD in political science from the

Paris School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (EHESS), and has taught in numerous French universities,

Grandes Écoles and political science institutes. He is the author of eight political science books, among which Tout

Sur Sciences Po, published in 2014.

BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN APPLIED GEOPOLITICS, ECONOMICS

AND LAW

This Bachelor’s Degree (180 ECTS) embodies the vision and high standards of Climax Education: it

fulfils the specific needs of international and interdisciplinary students who aim to acquire work

experience and a critical understanding of global affairs while accomplishing meaningful projects and

initiatives.

Immersed in a vibrant cultural environment, our students gain precious knowledge but also

professional practice through many internships in France and all over Europe, along with an enjoyable,

efficient and accessible linguistic training.

Thanks to numerous workshops, they take part in innovative projects, such as junior entrepreneurship

programs, creative media production, journalistic reporting, marketing strategy, coupled with the

creation of a unique non-profit organization and even that of a company.

Most of our courses are taught in English by native or bilingual teachers. Beginner- and intermediate-

level classes in French are also provided, along with optional courses in Spanish, German and

Mandarin, among other languages.

EUROPEAN AND INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS

The focus on global news has a major place in our

curriculum, from geopolitical analysis to the critical

study of the latest economic trends, along with the

evaluation of recent political and legislative action in

European and international affairs. Our objective is to

allow students to better understand and position

themselves in relation to today’s information flows, the

here and now of international affairs, to better

comprehend but also to participate in social, economic

THE CURRICULUM

Our Bachelor's Degree in Applied Geopolitics, Economics and Law specifically focuses on current

global news and the analysis of the latest political, economic and legal affairs. All classes are

interactive and take place in small groups (less than 30 students per class or through E-learning), under

the guidance of competent and available Professors, who will provide the students with both

knowledge and the opportunity to apply it. Both in our classes and our workshops, a group dynamic is

created that is enjoyable and profitable for all, based on respect, involvement and mutual support.

❸ FOREIGN LANGUAGES

By taking our Bachelor's Degree in Applied Geopolitics, Economics and Law, you will follow a

highly international curriculum.

Because the mastery of foreign languages is an essential aspect of any global career, we focus on

providing you with multilingual training in order to allow you to adapt to an international working

environment, to discover new cultures and civilizations, and to considerably widen your professional

ambitions. Many language courses are thus available to you, along with personalized coaching and

numerous linguistic resources (magazines, books, films, documentaries, etc.).

Accessible, applied and directly linked to current international affairs, these courses allow you,

whatever your initial level may be, to learn and progress quickly. You will also be able to validate

these essential language skills thanks to international language level certificates (TOEIC, DELE or

WiDaF, HSK, etc..) depending on your choices and needs.

INTERNSHIPS

Professional experience is vital for getting hired as a graduate – and an internship

could be your golden ticket to both. More than one-third of recruiters are unlikely to

employ a graduate with no work experience, according to High Fliers Research.

Internships occupy a major place in our training: they are aimed at allowing you to acquire significant

and rewarding professional experience in order to learn-by-doing, to open up to new human and

professional horizons and to prepare your future entry into the job market efficiently, in France, Europe

and the rest of the World.

At the end of these three years at Climax, you will have accumulated a total of 12 months of work

experience through these different internships.

Paid internships take place in France and/or abroad, except the 2nd year internship, which must take

place in a non-French speaking country. You may do all your internships abroad if you so wish. They

occur within a company, a public administration or an organization, either French or international, in

order to carry out a mission decided jointly by you, Climax and the chosen firm. This mission will be

related to your professional project and established by you during your studies. Each internship, with

the help of a tutor, will lead to the writing of a report and, at the beginning of the next academic year,

a defense presentation in front of a Professor and a professional.

In-depth courses of geopolitics, economics and law conducted in English, coupled with the passing

of French language proficiency tests from intermediate- to advanced-level (DELF, DALF and/or

Voltaire).

The conducting of a 4-month internship outside of France, whose setting and objectives will be

specially tailored to your travel preferences, your professional projects and your personal

ambitions.

The creation of a brand-new company by the students, a project they will be completely in charge

of and responsible for in terms of creative, managerial, promotional and financial aspects, while

working hand in hand with competent professionals in these specific fields.

TUITION FEES & TERMS

Tuition fees per year amount to €13,800.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

All the students attending our Bachelor’s Degree complete 12 months of internship during their

three years of study, and will thus receive a minimum income of €2,240 each year (the

minimum legal remuneration being €560 per month) and, on average, €4,000 per year (the

average salary of a trainee in 2018, according to La Relève, being 1,000 € per month). On this

basis, the actual tuition fees for one year will amount to €9,800.

Depending on your situation, you may be entitled to financial assistance from the State,

regional councils, family allowance funds, pension funds and/or your parents' work councils.

Do not hesitate to inquire directly with these institutions and organizations and to request

information.

CLIMAX EDUCATION HAS DECIDED TO GO FURTHER BY HELPING YOU DIRECTLY:

You have the possibility to pay your tuition fees in 1, 3, 5 or a 10-installment interest-free

payment plans, and to choose the starting date of your payment (at the time of your registration

or at the beginning of the school year).

You may benefit from exceptional tuition fee reductions if you do not have sufficient financial

means to pay all of your tuition fees to Climax Education. We invite you to include in your

registration dossier a letter of motivation, accompanied by all the elements (declaration of

income, scholarships received, special family situation, etc.) that will allow us to study your

request for financial assistance. If it receives a positive response from us, we will grant you up

to a 50% reduction in tuition fees, in accordance with our terms and conditions. In 2018-2019,

Climax Education is proud to have welcomed a quarter of students who benefited from such

sponsoring (ranging from -20% to -50% tuition fee reductions) on socio-economic criteria,

without counting on any outside help or public subsidy.

LEADERSHIP TEAM & CONTACT INFORMATION

Laurent Berthet is the founder and director of Climax Education. He holds a

PhD in political science from the Paris School for Advanced Studies in Social

Sciences (EHESS), and a master’s degree from the Grenoble Institute of

Political Science. He has taught in numerous French universities, Grandes

Écoles and political science institutes, including the HEC Paris School of

Management, ENSAE ParisTech, the Mines-Telecom Institute, and the

University of Chicago. Director of the "Climax" collection at Éditions Vuibert,

he is the author of eight political science books, including Tout Sur Sciences Po,

2014, along with numerous academic papers in his areas of expertise.

Maude Corrieras is assistant-director and professor at Climax. She holds a

PhD in philosophy from Université Paris-Sorbonne, along with her master's

degree from the same institution. She has been teaching contemporary

politics, philosophy and literature, along with written composition and oral

communication at Climax since 2014. Author of three political science

textbooks, she also regularly publishes philosophy books and scientific

articles. Fluent in French, English, German and Latin, she is also a trilingual

translator, and the founder and publisher of Ipagine Éditions. Passionate

about oriental philosophies, she attended during her doctoral studies a two-

year program in Chinese traditional medicine at Université Paris 13.


Horatiu Burcea is academic coordinator and professor at Climax. He holds a PhD

in English studies from Université Paris-Sorbonne, along with a master's degree in

anthropology from Ball State University. He has taught English and political

science at Climax since 2016, alongside his responsibilities as assistant professor

in English and anthropology for Université Panthéon-Sorbonne. A trilingual

translator and interpreter, his favorite research method is ethnographic fieldwork.

He is currently publishing his PhD at Sorbonne University Press, after having

received in 2018 the “Best PhD Dissertation of the Year” award from the Society

for the Study of Travel Writing in English.


Caroline Collet is the administrative assistant of Climax Education. After

HOW TO APPLY

In order to apply, students need to send to Climax Education, preferably by email

([email protected]), the following documents:

1. The Registration Contract signed by the student and his/her potential backer (see next page) –

(scan or paper)

2. Copies of your last school grades/reports OR a copy of your high school graduation

certification, if already obtained – (scan or paper)

3. A Language Certificate – (scan or paper) – assessing your English level (if you are not a native

English speaker), namely ONE of these possible certificates:

TOEIC (minimum score of 650 points)

TOEFL iBT (minimum score of 70 / or min. 200 for TOEFL CBT / or min. 535 for TOEFL Paper)

IELTS (min. score 5.5)

alternatively, another type of certification from an accredited teacher or an institute stating that you have

a sufficient level (B2+) to attend academic courses in English

4. A Recent ID Photo – (paper or digital)

GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

In return for the training provided by Climax Education, the student agrees to respect its Internal Regulations and to pay the full amount

due.

REGISTRATION FEES

Registration fees are included in the proposed rates. In case of withdrawal or cancellation, under the conditions stated below, the

registration fee will be fully refunded. All registration documents must be duly completed, signed and accompanied by all

complementary forms, along with the full financial payment.

Registration fees will be cashed as follows:

cashing of a first deposit check or a bank transfer of €1,500 following the final acceptance of your application;

cashing of a total of €12,300 in the middle of the month(s) following the date of signature of the Registration Contract or in the

middle of the month(s) following the beginning of the corresponding school year according to your payment terms, as indicated

above.

RIGHT TO RETRACT

From the date of signature on your Registration Contract, corresponding to the final validation of your application, you have fourteen

days in which to exercise your right to retract from your engagement without having to provide any justification for this retraction

pursuant to the provisions of Article L121-21 of the French Consumer Code. To exercise your right of withdrawal, you must notify

Climax Education at the above-mentioned postal address of your intention to retract, within the time set out in article L121-21 of the

Consumer Code. This written retraction must be sent by registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt, and must be accompanied by

a stamped envelope (100g.) which will include your home address. Your registration dossier and the amount paid will then be returned

to you in full without any penalty. Once the withdrawal period set by article L121-21 of the French Consumer Code has elapsed, no

cancellation will be taken into account and Climax Education will retain the total amount paid.

CANCELLATION OF A TRAINING

Climax Education reserves the right, in case of an insufficient number of registrations, to cancel a particular training program, while

committing to letting the student and his parents know at least one month before its planned beginning. If no alternative solution is

possible or if the student and his parents decline offered alternatives, the paid amount will be returned in full to the student, and his/her

dossier sent to the address appearing on the Registration Contact.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

Climax Education cannot be held responsible for the impossibility or the difficulty for a student to follow a proposed training program

due to adverse weather conditions, any other event strictly beyond the control of Climax Education. In case of non-compliance with

the rules of conduct of the School, the exclusion of a student will only take place after an oral warning. In the event of a defini tive

exclusion, the registration fees will remain the property of Climax Education and cannot be refunded, without prejudice to any damages

claimed by Climax Education in the event of legal proceedings. The voluntary abandonment of a student will not give rise to any refund,

and Climax Education will retain the entirety of the paid registration fees.

Our training takes place in an environment conducive to the wellbeing and the personal growth of our

students in welcoming premises located in Versailles, minutes away from the very center of Paris.

Our buildings are accessible:

FROM THE CHANTIERS TRAIN STATION, which directly serves a hundred other stations

including Paris Montparnasse (accessible in 12 minutes), La Défense, Austerlitz, Juvisy,

Chartres, Lyon, Marseille, etc.

TRAIN “RER C” (stops "Porchefontaine" or "Versailles Chantiers") and its many Parisian

stops (Eiffel Tower, Saint-Michel, Invalides, Bibliothèque François-Mitterrand, etc.).
