WE NEED YOUR HELP TO REACH OUR ….

2011—2012 ALUMNI ANNUAL GIVING GOAL OF $1M

Alumni and Friends,

As we approach the end of another fiscal year, I encourage and challenge all

of us to reflect on what Tougaloo College has meant, means now, and will

forever mean to us personally and as a unified body.

When we reminisce about our experiences and fond memories, recognize

that what we have gained from these experiences, friendships, and fellow-

ship, was what brought us to where we are now; successful in whatever we

were purposed, we will realize that we are obligated to give our work, our

wisdom and our wealth back to Tougaloo because of what it has given to us.

Therefore, we must recommit ourselves, to recruit students, to reclaim alum-

ni and to provide whatever financial resources we can. We must recommit

ourselves to give our time, talents, and energy to help enhance the lives of

everyone that we touch for the Eagle Queen.

To assist the College in reaching its financial goal for the 2011-2012 fiscal year (July 1, 2011 – June 30,

2012), alumni are challenged to raise/donate $1million to the annual fund for operating purposes and we

need your help! It is not only important to raise dollars but to get our percentage of alumni donors up;

numbers make a difference! We are in a much better position to approach businesses and friends when

we show that we, the permanent constituents, are supportive of our own institution.

From the Office of Alumni Affairs, we encourage each of you to assist in this endeavor by making what-

ever contribution you can; no gift is too large or too small. We need your help to ensure that we not only

reach, but exceed this goal.

We have issued a challenge to the senior class to donate a minimum of $20.12 as their first gift to the Col-

lege. They have accepted the challenge! Won’t you join them in investing in the rich legacy of our dear

Eagle Queen? You can donate on our website – www.tougaloo.edu or by mail to:

Tougaloo College Office of Institutional Advancement

500 W County Line Road

Tougaloo, MS 392174

Please join Dexter J. Robinson ‘91, Assistant Director for Alumni Relations and me in making this a

banner fundraising year for alumni of Tougaloo College.

Yours for Tougaloo,

Doris Bridgeman ‘69

This story can fit 150-200 words.

One benefit of using your newsletter as a promotional tool is that you can re-use content from other marketing ma-terials, such as press releases, market

studies, and reports.

While your main goal of distributing a newsletter might be to sell your prod-uct or service, the key to a successful newsletter is making it useful to your

readers.

A great way to add useful content to your newsletter is to develop and write your own articles, or include a calendar of upcoming events or a special offer

that promotes a new product.

You can also research articles or find “filler” articles by accessing the World Wide Web. You can write about a variety of topics but try to keep your

articles short.

“Chapel Afternoon”

By Jeffrey Yentz

This limited edition pen and ink print (shown below) of the organ in historic Woodworth Chapel. Entitled “Chapel Afternoon”, this work of art was donated by local Jackson, MS artist Jeffrey Yentz. Yentz is recently transplanted from Virginia where he served as Corporate Archi-tect for a regional healthcare system. Wanting to continue to make a difference, he and his wife Faye relocated to Mississippi in January 2009. During the passing months he became intrigued and enamored with the unique character Mississippi presented to him. The experiences in-spired him to translate each scene setting and personality into a pen and ink image intent on capturing the spirit of each.

“Chapel Afternoon” is one such example; these prints are signed and numbered by the artist.

To order a print, contact Edgar Smith at [email protected], Beverly Williams at [email protected] or Carolyn Price at [email protected]; all proceeds will provide support to Tougaloo College the Tougaloo Alumni Community

Chapter.

NATIONAL GOLF MARATHON — WEEK OF OCT. 8-13, 2012

(Also Tougaloo College Founders Week )

Tee off during the week of October 8—13, 2012, at the Eagle Ridge Golf Course, Hinds County Community College, Raymond, MS, to raise serious

money for the Tougaloo College general scholarship fund.

We need chapter sponsors, organizers and golfers to make this a fun and prof-itable event. Last year Washington Area Tougaloo Alumni Chapter sponsored

the event with the following chapters participating:

Tougaloo Community Alumni Chapter which hosted the golf marathon in

Raymond, MS.

Houston Area Alumni Chapter, which hosted golfers in the Houston area.

Northern California Tougaloo Alumni Chapter, which hosted Bay Area

participants in Oakland.

Visit WWW.WATACGolf-A-Thon.com.

We are hoping that every chapter will participate this year.

Contact John Rosenthal or the Office of Alumni Affairs for more information. Proceeds go to the college gen-

eral scholarship fund. Participating chapters share in chapter giving credits for funds raised.

APRIL 7, 2012 TWO RIVERS GALA WAS A BIG SUCCESS!!!

THANKS! THANKS! THANKS! THANKS!

The steering committee and founders of the Two Rivers Gala would like to

thank you for your support .

This Gala was one of our best attended and everyone had an electric good time. Gospel listeners and lovers of Great Gospel Music were entertained by two

brothers, Melvin and Doug Williams, the duo behind the Williams Brothers.

R&B performer, Eric Benet amazed the audience. A duet with a Tougaloo stu-

dent, had the audience on their feet.

Thanks for making the tenth annual Two Rivers Gala a success.

Your Support on April 7, 2012 was very much appre-
