Tropical rainforests are warm, wet with many tall trees.

In most tropical rainforests, it rains every day.The largest rainforest in the world is the

Amazon rainforest in South America.They are homes for plants and animals and all

Plants that live there example: Trees: Some trees grow to 120 feet. The leaves Fruit trees provide food for many rainforest animals and people.

Tropical plants live in the hot, humid, and wet environment of the tropical rainforest.

Animal species in the rainforest also have many adaptations to life in trees and more.

For example, prehensile tails are common on possums, and new world monkeys.

Special flaps of lizards and frogs skin help to move smoothly between treetops.

People can live in and around the tropical rainforests for many thousands of years.

Explorers thought the soil of a rainforest is very wealthy. They tried cutting the forest and turning it into farmland. It

didn’t work. When a rainforest is burned or cut down, the soil can only

be used for a very short time before it runs out of nutrients.
