Dear Parishioners and Friends of Ascension Today we celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany The Epiphany is what we traditionally call the Feast of the Three Kings Today is the 12th day of Christmas Symbolically this is a very important feast because it was through the events of the Epiphany that the divinity of Jesus was revealed for the very first time This was the first of the three manifestations of Jesusrsquo divinity ndash Epiphany The Baptism of Jesus and the Wedding Feast of Cana (the first public miracle of Jesus) As people of faith we recognize the fact that every person is made to the image and likeness of God Our challenge is to see and find that divine presence in every person with whom we come in contact Over the past several years there have been a lot of challenges in the Archdiocese of New York by way of closures and mergers of both schools and parishes At this point the diocese would like to put some of their resources and energy into making sure that people understand that evangelization is still our primary mission The diocese is sponsoring a sort of a three-day parish mission entitled Revive Faith Every Day This retreatmission will take place in each cluster of the Archdiocese and allow for people of faith steadfast faith wavering faith and even those curious about the faith to re-engage with the church This will be a three-day parish mission and we are the host (Parish) This will be for the five parishes in our cluster Corpus Christi Notre Dame Saint Gregory Holy Name and Holy Trinity Please mark your calendars This will take place on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday January 30 31st and February 1 I will let you know as more information becomes available The evening will most likely begin at 7pm but that is yet to be confirmed On behalf of Fr Rafferty Msgr Shelley and Fr Daniel we wish you Godrsquos choicest blessings for a happy and healthy New Year Peace Fr Kearney

Queridos Feligreses y Amigos de la Ascensioacuten

Hoy celebramos la fiesta de la Epifaniacutea La Epifaniacutea es lo que tradicionalmente llamamos la fiesta de los Tres Reyes Magos Hoy es el duodeacutecimo diacutea de la Navidad Simboacutelicamente eacutesta es una fiesta muy importante porque fue a traveacutes de los eventos de la Epifaniacutea que la divinidad de Jesuacutes fue revelada por la primera vez Eacutesta fue la primera de las tres manifestaciones de la divinidad de Jesuacutes ndash la Epifaniacutea el bautismo de Jesuacutes y la boda de Canaacute (el primer milagro puacuteblico de Jesuacutes) Como gente de fe reconocemos el hecho de que cada persona estaacute hecha a semejanza de Dios Nuestro rito es ver y encontrar esa presencia divina en cada persona con la que entramos en contacto

Durante los uacuteltimos antildeos ha habido muchos retos en la Arquidioacutecesis de Nueva York a traveacutes de cierres al igual que fusiones de escuelas y parroquias Actualmente a la dioacutecesis le gustariacutea usar algunos de sus recursos y energiacutea para asegurarse que la gente comprenda que la evangelizacioacuten continuacutea siendo nuestra misioacuten primaria La dioacutecesis estaacute auspiciando una especie de misioacuten parroquial de tres diacuteas titulada Reanimar Fe cada diacutea

Este retiromisioacuten tendraacute lugar en cada grupo de la arquidioacutecesis y eso permitiraacute a personas de fe de profunda fe y de fe vacilante y hasta aquellos curiosos acerca de la fe a reencontrarse con la Iglesia Esto va a ser una misioacuten parroquial de tres diacuteas y nosotros seremos los anfitriones Esto seraacute para las cinco parroquias en nuestro grupo Corpus Christi Notre Dame San Gregorio Holy Name y Santiacutesima Trinidad
