Well voting time is nearly here. The AGM is just around the corner,25th March Campbelltown Hotel starting at 1 pm. Now is the time foryou to have your say. The nomination forms are included with thisnewsletter. Don't talk about what you would like to see change behindyour horse float at a show or over the phone to other people, getalong to this meeting and put some "valid" input into the society. If youcan't make it to a meeting send an email to one of the committeemembers so we can table your thoughts or ideas or concerns at ameeting, as much as we like to think we can, we can't read minds.

Before we wrap up the year, I would like to say a big thank you tothose helpers on the committee and some that are not on thecommittee but helped out anyway. You know who you are and youhave made the year go a lot smoothly than normal for me.

Don't forget we have an Allbreeds still to go on the 18th of March.Also some fun days and instruction days as well, get along to thesethey are great fun and a great way to relax and get to know a few ofthe other competitors and committee people. In April we are planninga Trail Ride with a BBQ get together to celebrate our 30 yr milestonein the North with another get together planned for the South in Maycan't wait for those, hopefully I will have a horse to ride. It won't belong before we will be holding the Hi-Point dinner, there have beensome great ideas about venue's etc. There will be plenty of prizes togo around this year with the Runner Up Hi-Point awards being kindlydonated by Sarah and Jason Hingston. So don't forget to fill in thoseHi-Point cards.

On a personal note I am pleased to say my two Monte girls Mialookaand Martina haven't let me down in the Pinto foal arena. Both havegiven me Pinto babies and they are fillies to boot. Some saw my Pallyand White girl Julz at the Pinto Show, you will be seeing more of herI am sure, along with her half sister Shezalooka, both are by OtwayView Royal Jest who has definately proven he is a Dilute of somedescription. Julz has already started her show career winning aReserve Junior Filly and Reserve Dual Registered beating her mumin best marked, best tobiano and best skewbald as well as givingPeter a work out in handling a feisty foal. As a first time mum Martinaalso took everything in her stride with a very laid back attitude to herfoal being out of sight a few times. I was extremely pleased with themboth. I am glad that this year we only ended up with the four foals ofcourse the two fillies and a little chestnut colt and the big chestnutcolt, it has been so dry and feed a bit hard to get, the mums are doingit tuff.

Last time I did a Presidents report it rained for a full day. So here ishoping this newsletter will bring more rain this time round and lots ofAutumn grass for our babies and mums to enjoy!

Silver was purchased as a week old foal from David Mold, who then lived just out ofExeter. Born bay, he was already showing a grey coat when he was delivered to us atweening, and by the age of 4 was steel grey with jet black points. He sired his first foalsat 4 years - a chestnut filly out of a Thoroughbred named Honey and Free Spirit Duelistaout of Minnehaha.

Silver was already broken to saddle and working every day with cattle at 2 propertiesthat Rodney was managing. At this time Rodney also formed the Tasmanian Campdrafting association and Silver won the State Championship draft for members. Not tobe stopped there they also took out the Highest Points Winner for Team Penning alongwith Stan Smith.

With his foals numbering in the 50's with the majority of them Pinto, and a successfulshow career in the Arabian led classes and many hunt with the Northern Hunt Club, thedecision was made to geld him and let his son, Free Spirit Rasputin take over the jobas stallion. This allowed him to take up Polocrosse; 2006/2007 was to be his 4th yearplaying A - B Grade.

A very special bond existed between this Arabian and his master - complete trust,understanding and a willingness to try anything.

Sadly Silver passed away on the Polocrosse field, doing what he loved the most, givingeverything he had to his beloved master.
