SYRACUSE CHIEFS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM The Syracuse Chiefs professional baseball club is a member of the Triple-A International League and the top Minor League Baseball affiliate of the Washington Nationals. The Chiefs offer a multitude of internship options with many areas of concentration. An internship with the Chiefs is a for-credit only internship – or non-paid. Interns are not guaranteed employment with the Chiefs upon completion of the internship. All expenses arising from the acceptance of an internship with the Chiefs are the sole responsibility of the intern. The Syracuse Chiefs are committed to providing interns with an environment that fosters training for their own educational benefit. Internships with the Chiefs are general in nature; interns may be assigned to work in any of the following areas: public relations, promotions, ticket sales, group sales, marketing, operations, or customer service. Every day is a different day in the Chiefs office and the responsibilities of an intern will vary. Interns are expected to be ready to help in any department and in any way possible. An intern with the Chiefs is expected to adhere to a regular schedule as agreed upon prior to the beginning of the internship. Off-season interns are required to work 8-12 hours per week, while in-season interns may be required to work as many as 30 hours per week (including nights and weekends) depending on the team’s game schedule. The Chiefs typically hire 1-2 interns for the fall semester, 8-12 interns for the spring semester, and 15-20 interns for the summer semester. Application deadlines are as follows: Fall Semester – July 15; Spring Semester – November 15; Summer Semester – March 31. Applicants who live in Central New York and/or attend a college or university in Central New York will be given priority consideration over non-local applicants. Non-local applicants will be considered only in the event that all available positions can not be filled by local applicants in a given semester.
