Going for a higher degree of comfort is an easy decision to make when you’re modernising. But then thousands of questions start to occur to you. Can I adapt my existing heating…? Can my heating system…? Can other heating systems…? How about if light and…? Can I save money…? Synco™ living can pro-vide answers to your first thousand or so questions with just a few brief facts.

All central heating but also household water heating systems can be integrated into the system – quickly and easily by radio without the need for any trouble-some cabling. Even intelligent room temperature control alone will increase your feel-good factor significantly and

modernise not just your house but your costs too. The exact savings potential varies from application to application.

Furthermore, use of the European KNX* communication standard means that a wide range of additional comfort func-tions, such as blinds, light, smoke detec-tors and weather stations, can be simply integrated. Monitoring functions for household devices, household water sys-tems and your oil tank are also easy to incorporate.

You can decide on your desired level of comfort either at the time of moderni-sation or at any later time that happens to suit you. Naturally the whole system can be connected by wire should you so wish.

Synco™ living is a living system, the heart and brain of your home, and that’s why we’ve based it around the way people actually lead their lives. Synco™ living is designed to fit in with the way you choose to live.

“We fell in love with the old house immediately and set about renovating it euphor-ically. It soon turned out that some elements could be preserved while others had to be comp letely rebuilt. In terms of household technology more than anything else, it started to become more and more diffi cult to combine old and new meaningfullyunder one roof. Living with heart and brain immediately sounded right. And so Synco™ living proved to be. Right, because it allows itself to be adapted easily to diffi cult modernisation scenarios. Right too, because it allowed us to start with a solution that suited our pocket but was completely open to future expansion possibilities. We now associate the name Siemens fi rmly with the ability to adapt to the inevitable changes we will have to make as our daughter grows up.

We’re now unpacking all our things and starting to enjoy our new home. Next year we’ll integrate the children’s room and workroom smoke detectors into the Home Automation System. This involves simply screwing the Synco™ living components to the wall or ceiling and once the radio connection with the central control unit has been established, we’ll be able to control and monitor everything from there. A major change in terms of benefi ts, but without any dirt or noise. It ’s really enjoyable to see the house changing and adapting in line with the family’s needs.”

“When we moved into our house, my loved one wanted a fi tness room. I gave in to her wishes – and gave up my plans to have a workroom. During the fi rst three months we had to plan rigorously who could use which machine at what time. She was comp-le tely obsessed by it. After six months or so I had to start reminding her about our fi tness room and by the time the fi rst year was up it was being used more and more as a storeroom. Now we are planning to integrate our fi rm’s offi ce into the house so that we can see each other more. Whereas before, the emphasis was on physical fi tness, it will now be on mental fi tness.

Comfort can be enjoyed uncondition-ally when your heart is happy and your mind tells you why everything is right.

Is it frivolous to be able to see from the kitchen whether or not you have remembered to close the freezer in your basement? If we were to ask you again once your guests have arrived and you’re sitting at the table and sud-denly get the feeling you might have left the freezer open?

So it takes no time at all to go around checking the windows one final time before leaving the house? What if we were to tell you that you could be wast-ing x hours of leisure time a year doing this? Isn’t it completely over the top

to want to continually monitor your house? But what if you could do it from a single point? Isn’t checking on a freezer something that might appeal to security freaks? Ask us again when your guests arrive in the evening and you discover your meat has been thawing for the past two days because somebody left the freezer door open.

Do you feel that automatic illumination of your conservatory is one creature comfort too many? Ask your wife once your visitors have spent half an hour admiring it. “Since we both work, my wife and I have split all the jobs in and around the house between the two of us. In doing so, we tried to take our personal preferences into account. For example: When we have visitors, my wife, who is creative, takes care of the cooking and sets the table. I look after the rest of the house, ensuring cosy temperatures or fresh air as necessary, attractive lighting while we eat and on the terrace. The wine must be served at exactly the right temperature and the front garden and terrace have to be a resplendent, freshly watered green. Naturally, once the eve-ning is over everything has to be returned to normal and the house made secure for the night. So there’s a lot for each of us to do.

That’s why we’ve acquired a few little helpers – for example a near-silent dishwasher and a self-cleaning oven. To look after the household technology we bought ourselves Synco™ living. Now I think I came off rather better than my wife in our division of household duties. When I catch sight of our visitors coming along the street I simply press a button and everything is ready. When they drive away again, late into the evening, I press a button again and everything is returned to normal and the house made secure for the night. Next time we have a meal with friends I really ought to order a catering service.”

Synco™ living combines these advantages optimally. Regardless of how extensive a Synco™ living you start out with – the emphasis is on realising your every wish over many years to come. In other words, Synco™ living is open from the outset.

The Synco™ living room unit.

Measures room temperature and allows the settings entered

into the central apartment unit, such as temperature and

operating parameters, to be adjusted for individual rooms.

The comfort settings can be extended at the push of a button.

The Synco™ living radiator control actuator.

Measures room temperature, receives the pre-set desired tempera-

ture for this room by radio signal from the central apartment unit

and regulates room temperature by adjusting the radiator valve. It

can also regulate up to fi ve additional radiators per room, thereby

ensuring an even temperature between radiators.

The Synco™ living room temperature sensor.

Measures room temperature and communicates this by radio to the

central apartment unit.

The Synco™ living heating circuit controller.

Compares the actual and desired values communicated by radio from

the central apartment unit and regulates temperature by adjusting

the valve settings of the heating unit. By combining heating circuit

controller for 2 or 8 heating circuits, this system allows for the

operation of as many heating circuits as necessary.

The DELTA refl ex smoke detector.

Detects smoke in the event of a fi re breaking out and sets off an

alarm. It communicates the alarm by radio to the Synco™ living

central control unit. From there the alarm can be sent by SMS, pager

or e-mail to one or more recipients.

The GAMMA wave radio integration system for light and blinds.

All GAMMA wave products can be integrated. This allows you

to operate your light and blinds comfortably and advantageously

centrally, locally (from the individual room) or as part of a scenario.

Naturally GAMMA wave components can also be automated e.g.

via switching programmes or your simulated occupancy settings.

The GAMMA wave window contact.

Monitors the status of windows, doors and gates but also your

freezer and oil tank and transmits the relevant data to the central

apartment unit. In the case of deviations from the norm, the

system can alert you in a variety of ways. Saves energy, increases

comfort.

Synco™ living is based on the European KNX communications

standard. This means that even the products of third-party

providers can be integrated and linked. Synco™ living supports

both KNX radio and KNX cable (TP1) connections. That too

makes it comfortable.
