1. Synchronous Torque Motor DST2

The torque motors of the DST2 series are permanently excited, high pole, water-cooled synchronous motors. The high torque densities in the low and medium speed ranges make this energy-efficient motor series ideal for use as a direct drive in general me-chanical engineering applications. The drives have a high overload capability and display true running charac-teristics and are therefore ideal for sophisticated and dynamic applications. The integrated water-cooling system paves the way for optimal dissipation of losses with a high protection type. A fan is not required with these motors thus leading to a significant reduction in noise emissions. Moreover, these durable, compact motors are also largely maintenance-free, which is an extra benefit to ensure efficient operation.

1.2. Ratings definition The ratings (torques) listed in the table apply to continuous operation (S1) with nominal speed provided that the require-ments that apply for the cooling circuit in liquid-cooled motors are observed!

When DST motors are operated with higher coolant inlet temperatures, the minimum factors in the following table must be taken into consideration:

Reduced values may also be permitted (following consultation) depending on the overall length and coolant input tempera-ture. The feed valve can be controlled specifically in accordance with the motor temperature detected with the KTY84-130. Additives are to be blended in sufficient volumes for protection against corrosion, frost, and germs. The type and mixture of the additive must comply with the respective recommendations from the manufacturer of the additive and the respective ambient conditions.

1.4. Winding isolation and temperature rise All machines of this series are designed with insulation class H according to EN 60034 and for a water inlet temperature up to 25°C.

The insulation is resistant against gases and vapors of combustible materials and it meets the requirements expected of a moisture-proof and tropical insulation.

The engines are designed for operation with modern converters with fast-switching power semiconductors and DC link voltages up to 640 V. Use with higher DC link voltages up to 800 V is also possible after consultation with the manufacturer.

The specified rated powers and torques at rated speeds are achieved during converter operation with a clock frequency of ≥ 4 kHz in the power unit. A clock frequency of > 6 kHz is recommended. 3.2. Encoder cables General information A fully preassembled encoder cable is used for all encoder systems. Motor connection is via a 12-pin round signal connec-tor for resolver and SRS/SRM50, a 17-pin round signal connector for ECN1313/ EQN1325, and an 8-pin round signal con-nector for ECN1325/ EQN1337. The controller connection is via a 15-pin sub-D plug.

The trailing cable is suitable for mobile use in trailing chains, for example. In addition, unlike non-trailing cables the cable sheath is made of heavy-duty PU instead of PVC (can be used in environments with acids and bases).
