    KSPHC introduced the transformationinitiative, WBPMS that aims to provideaccountability for public moneyinvested in Government projects with acomplaint mechanism built into thetool.

    Mysore City Corporation proved to be oneamong the few JnNURM Mission cities,

    which could mobilize its community andbuild infrastructure together using thefinancial support under CommunityParticipation Fund (CPF) project.

    The Corporation has formed 686 CitizenCommittees at the polling booth level,

    representing all sectors of a society. Thecorporation assisted these Committees to

    BBMP is the first and only successfulurban local body to have Revised the

    property tax assessment under an AreaBased System termed Unit Area Value

    (UAV) in the fiscal year 2008-09, after itsfirst implementation in the year 2000-01.

    BBMP undertook the Self Assessment ofProperty Tax scheme (SAS) for easy and

    safe payment of tax. The UAV methodproved that it could revise the propertytax assessment in a pragmatic manner

    In 2003, looking at the situation of poor andirregular water supply service , its maintenance

    was handed over to KUWS&DB, as per the

    Government Order.

    The board along with the Corporationstrategized to improve the service delivery,

    introducing scientific water tariff and

    regularization of illegal connections during theinitial two years with new and innovative

    approaches.

    The ancient water system in Chitradurga isunique in many ways. The engineeringmarvel, the skillful storage of water isastounding !

    The Chitradurga City Municipal Councilalong with the District Administration,

    NGOs, Volunteers etc. made an effort toclean up the Kalyanis (small water tanks)

    and open well to store rainwater, preservewater and recharge the underground water

    table in the surrounding area retaining its

    traditional value.

    The Kundapura municipality decided tofix this issue by augmenting the supply

    and distribution network underKUDCEM project of KUIDFC.

    With the change in the system, todaythe municipality is able to supply 24/7

    water supply to few zones and hasdrastically reduced its non revenue

    water to 13%.

    The Kundapura Municipality then initiatedthe clean campaign drive to solve this issue

    with the involvement of various

    stakeholders.

    The municipality prepared an action plan inaccordance to the ISWM State Policy and

    seeked approval from electedrepresentatives in the year 2006.

    The Kundapura town was financiallysupported through KUIDFC under

    KUDCEM project funded by ADB.

    Karwar City Municipal Council prepared themanagement Action Plan finalizing itsinfrastructure requirement under KUDCEMP

    of KUIDFC, with financial assistance extendedby ADB.

    The municipality understanding the localconditions,

    decided to undertake effective IEC programon priority.

    The municipality strategized to renew its focustowards this service and improve the same to

    Sankeshwar Town MunicipalCouncil

    The Sankeshwar municipality renewed itsfocus toward this service, to improve the

    sanitary conditions of the town.

    An effective and systematic ways forcollection, transportation, treatment and

    disposal of waste was designed and

    implementedwith the help of local stakeholders. It

    motivated the NGOs to participate in thevermicomposting process.

    Special Town PanchayatAward Hirekerur Town Panchayat

    Sympathizing on poor sanitation situationand consideration for women, the public

    toilets were decided to be the mostessential amenity. By the Hirekerur Town

    Panchayat

    22.75% of the budget are earmarked for

    the welfare of SC & STs. And under the18% Grants & the SFC Grants, the actionplans for construction of household

    latrines was designed by TP. During2007-2010.
