It consists of seven members who each serve three-year terms and receive no salary or other financial compensation. The meetings, except for Executive Sessions, are held before the public. The Board of Education may convene to Executive Session immediately after opening the meeting. At the end of the Executive Session, the Board of Education will re-convene to the Regular Meeting. Arrival and departure times of the Board of Education members shall be noted in the minutes and within the order of events. A maximum of half hour will be allocated for agenda items “Statements of Residents” with a three minute limit per individual. Each speaker must be a resident of the District. Residents wishing to make comments or raise questions shall state their name and address. Public discussion is prohibited on matters relating to staff and students at which their reputation, privacy, or rights to due process or the rights of others to due process, could be in some way violated. Residents will be permitted to participate in Board of Education discussion and agenda item “Discussion,” however Board of Education members will speak first. Each resident will be limited to one input with a two minute maximum. A time limit for residents’ discussion will be no more than 10 minutes unless a majority of the Board wants to extend the time due to the nature of the topic. Residents will address the Board and not each other during this discussion. Each Board Member voting on a motion shall be permitted to state the reason for doing so and the statement shall be noted in the minutes. The public, in its comments, will refrain from making any direct references to student or staff members. Such references to individual students or staff members are inappropriate in a public forum and should instead be conducted in private conversation with an appropriate member of the staff. #1314-056 Void Resolution #1213-286 Center Moriches UFSD Tuition Contract: WHEREAS, on June 27, 2013 the Board of Education of the Shoreham-Wading River Central School District adopted Resolution #1213-286 for a Center Moriches Union Free School District Tuition Contract in the amount of $38,780.00; and WHEREAS, the District has determined that said contract was submitted with the incorrect tuition amount; and WHEREAS, on July 23, 2013 the Board of Education of the Shoreham-Wading River Central School District adopted Resolution #1314-016 for a Center Moriches Union Free School District Tuition Contract for the same student with the corrected amount; therefore BE IT RESOLVED, the Board of Education of the Shoreham-Wading River Central School District hereby approves that Resolution #1213-286 be considered null and void.

#1314-057 Transfer from Capital Fund to Tax Reduction Reserve Fund: (included in 9/6/13 Update)

WHEREAS, on May 17, 2011 a voter proposition was approved for the below two (2) projects at a total cost for both projects not to exceed $891,144.00 and to be totally funded from the Tax Reduction Reserve Fund:

1) Underground Storage Tanks Removal and Replacement at a cost not to exceed $825,000.00 2) Briarcliff Elementary School Storm Drainage Improvement at a cost not to exceed $66,144.00

WHEREAS, the above two (2) projects are now complete at a total cost for both projects of $757,134.17, leaving a balance of $134,009.83; therefore BE IT RESOLVED, the Board of Education of the Shoreham-Wading River Central School District approves the transfer of $134,009.83 from the Capital Fund back to the Tax Reduction Reserve Fund.

#1314-058 Accepts the Claims Audit Report for July 1, 2012 – June 30, 2013: (included 8/30/13 Update)

RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Shoreham-Wading River Central School District hereby accepts the Claims Audit Report from July 1, 2012 – June 30, 2013.

#1314-059 Accepts the Internal Auditor’s Student Related Services Report:

RESOLVED, the Board of Education of the Shoreham-Wading River Central School District hereby accepts the Internal Auditor’s Student Related Services Report and the related Corrective Action Plan.

#1314-060 Accepts the Internal Auditor’s Report Risk Assessment Update Report:

RESOLVED, the Board of Education of the Shoreham-Wading River Central School District hereby accepts the Internal Auditor’s Risk Assessment Update Report and the related Corrective Action Plan.

#1314-061 Laurie Klein-Gonzalez Contract:

RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Shoreham-Wading River Central School District hereby approves a contract between the District and Laurie Klein-Gonzalez to provide tutoring services for Level II Wilson Reading at $45.00 per hour, per student (not to exceed $14,400.00 annually) for the 2013-2014 school year. The President of the Board is authorized to sign this contract and thereby signify the Board’s acceptance to the agreement.

#1314-062 Miller Place UFSD Tuition Contract: RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Shoreham-Wading River Central School District hereby approves a contract between the District and Miller Place Union Free School District for tuition services for one (1) Miller Place Union Free School District student(s) to attend Shoreham-Wading River Central School District for the 2013-2014 school year at an estimated tuition cost of $86,898.00. The President of the Board of Education is authorized to execute said contract, and thereby signify the Board’s acceptance to the contract.

#1314-063 Mount Sinai UFSD Tuition Contract:

RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Shoreham-Wading River Central School District hereby approves a contract between the District and Mount Sinai Union Free School District for tuition services for one (1) Mount Sinai Union Free School District student(s) to attend Shoreham-Wading River Central School District for the 2013-2014 school year at an estimated tuition cost of $68,286.00. The President of the Board of Education is authorized to execute said contract, and thereby signify the Board’s acceptance to the contract.

#1314-064 Rocky Point UFSD Tuition Contract:

RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Shoreham-Wading River Central School District hereby approves a contract between the District and Rocky Point Union Free School District for tuition services for two (2) Rocky Point Union Free School District student(s) to attend Shoreham-Wading River Central School District for the 2013-2014 school year at an estimated total tuition cost of $177,821.00 for both students. The President of the Board of Education is authorized to execute said contract, and thereby signify the Board’s acceptance to the contract.

#1314-065 Alternatives for Children Contract:

RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Shoreham-Wading River Central School District hereby approves a contract between the District and Alternatives for Children to provide music therapy services for the 2013-2014 school year as per the attached fee schedule. The President of the Board is authorized to sign this contract and thereby signify the Board’s acceptance to the agreement.

#1314-066 Natural Helpers Retreat:

RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Shoreham-Wading River Central School District hereby approves a request for the annual Natural Helpers Retreat at Camp Alvernia, New York scheduled for November 23-25, 2013 at a cost to the District of $9,989.00.

#1314-067 Donation(s):

RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Shoreham-Wading River Central School District accepts the following donation(s) and, if necessary, approves the appropriate budget line(s) to be increased by that amount: 1. To SWR High School from Target Stores:

Check # 2503816 in the amount of $331.60 to be used to offset the cost of the annual Character Education / Anti-Bullying Program.

2. Albert G. Prodell Middle School from Target Stores: Check #2503813 in the amount of $290.17 to be used for school supplies. 3. Briarcliff Elementary School from Briarcliff PTA: Three (3) classroom magazines at an approximate total value of $1,282.00

WHEREAS, the Board of Education of the Shoreham-Wading River Central School District hereby classifies the below list of items as being obsolete, irreparable, no longer in use, and / or of no monetary value; therefore BE IT RESOLVED, the Board of Education of the Shoreham-Wading River Central School District approves the below list of items to be disposed of in accordance with District Policy #5250.
