    Galaxy Chocolate

Galaxy sweets are probably one of the most liked sweets in Ireland. You may think

that they are just chocolate bars but they come in what are called Galaxy Bits.

Galaxy Bars and Bits are made with milk chocolate but they taste nothing like DairyMilk Chocolate (Cadbury's). The packet is light brown with Galaxy written on it.

The Galaxy Bar and Bits taste lovely but I wish they would put some toffee or

caramel inside the Bar and Bits so you can get some more taste in the Galaxy.

The Bar usually comes with about eight squares of Galaxy Chocolate. The Galaxy

Bits have about fourteen balls in them.

I think the Galaxy Bar and Bits are one of the best sweets in Ireland but not in theworld.

caramel ones you can get normal ones with just chocolate.

The chocolate is nice and it is shaped like a frog. They are only 25c in most shops.

They are a popular treat in Ireland.

Im going to tell you a bit about Cadburys Caramel. Cadburys Caramel is a caramel

    caramel.

    There is also Caramel Nibbles.

Theyre basically buttons (another Cadburys product)

Whenever I say sweets in this text, I mean candy.

    My favourite sweets are Haribo

Goldbears. They are made by Haribo.Haribo Goldbears are made in

    Germany.

Goldbears look like very small bears

and their colours change for each of the

six flavours. Goldbears come in two

packets. One is small and it has about

10 in it. The second is a lot bigger and

it has about 48 in it.

There are six different flavours for Haribo Goldbears. The dark red coloured

Goldbears are Raspberry flavoured, the dark orange coloured one is Strawberry

flavoured, the light orange coloured one is Orange flavoured, the yellow coloured one

is Lemon flavoured, the green one is Apple flavoured and the white one is Pineapple

flavoured. Goldbears can be hard sometimes, but most of the time they are nice, soft

    and chewy.

The ingredients are Glucose Syrup, Sugar, Gelatine, Dextrose, Fruit JuiceConcentrates (which are Raspberries, Strawberries, Oranges, Lemons, Apples and

Pineapples), Citric Acid, Fruit and Plant Concentrates (which are Nettles, Apples,

    Maltesers

Maltesers are my favourite sweets /candy. They are made by the company Mars.

Maltesers were created by Forrest Mars, Sr. in 1936 and first sold in 1937. The

current Maltesers slogan is Thelighter way to enjoy chocolate.

    Maltesers consist of a roughly

    spherical malt-honeycomb centre

    surrounded by milk chocolate, you

can also get white chocolate. The

chocolate on the outside is nice and

    smooth and the malt-honeycomb

    centre is crunchy.

At Easter they make things called Malteasters and that is the same thing but shaped

    like a bunny rabbit.

I love Maltesers and my favourite part of them is

the malt-honeycomb centre on the inside.

    Tayto Cheese and Onion Crisps

My favourite type of Irish treat would be Tayto Cheese and Onion crisps (in Ireland wecall chips crisps just to let you know because you will be seeing the word throughout this

writing). Tayto is one of the biggest crisp brands and manufacturer of crisps in Ireland. It

has many different varieties of Crisps: Tayto Crisps, Tayto Bistro, Tayto Occasions. AlsoTayto Snacks, Onion Rings, Wheelies, Snaps, Chickatees, Waffles, Chipsticks, Mighty

Munch, Snax, Velvet crunch, Nuts, Popcorn and Toobz. The packets of crisps cost

    about 60 cent per bag.

To make the crisps they cut the potatoes up into slices and fry them in sunflower oil andadd the flavouring and salt. They are then packed into the foil bags, boxed and sent out

    to the shops.

There is a great savoury, delicious, tasty and addicting flavour to the cheese and onionflavoured crisps. You can get the salty and sunflower oil taste from the crisps. It is very

crispy and they break into flakes and melt in your mouth. It contains Irish grown potato, sunflower oil wheat (gluten), dairy (lactose), cheese and onion, salt cheese powder and

    flavour enhancers.

The wrapper is red and blue and it has the mascot

Mr. Tayto on it as well. On the back of the pack it

has an advertisement for Tayto Park and

ingredients list. The crisps are in printed foil bags

to keep the crisps fresh. The crisps are usuallyoval in shape unless they are damaged. The crisps

are golden brown in colour. The texture is crispyand dry but soggy when soaked in your mouth.

There is a park named Tayto Park in Ashbourn,

County Meath. I was lucky to visit there for my

school tour last year. It has a small petting zoo,

Native American tents and camp, one of theirfactories and loads of adventurous rides but I was

unlucky to not get time to get on the adventurerides. At the end of my class visit I got three Big

    Eat packs.

Tayto crisps were made by Joe Murphy in 1954. It is said he made up the name becausehis son could not pronounce potato; instead he said Tayto. Back then they sold the

packets at 4 old pence per bag and an old tin would have 12 old packets of Tayto. Taytobought the King crisp brand but then in 2000 C&C bought over Tayto. Then in 2006

Largo foods bought the company and owns it ever since.

    Fruit Pastilles

Fruit Pastilles are made by Rowntrees who have made Rowntrees Fruit Gums,

Rowntrees Wiggly Worms, Jelly Tots and Randoms. Fruit Pastilles were first made

by Joseph Rowntree in Fawdon, Tyneside, England in 1881. Before then,

manufacture of gums and Pastilles had been a French monopoly. Joseph Rowntreewas born in York on May 24 1836.

Fruit Pastilles are small round sweets measuring at about 1.5 cm. They have a jelly-

like consistency, due to the gelatin that they are made from and are covered with

sugar. Fruit Pastilles have 5 flavours:

    Lemon - Yellow

    Lime - Green

    Strawberry - Red

    Blackcurrant - Purple

    Orange - Orange

My favourite flavour is Lemon. Purple is the most loved Fruit Pastille and Lemon is

the least loved Fruit Pastille. Fruit Pastilles are actually owned by Nestl but aremade by Rowntrees. Fruit Pastilles were rebranded in Australia.

The packet is green with Rowntrees Fruit Pastilles written on the packet as well.

Also it has all the colours of the flavours coming up from Rowntrees Fruit Pastilles.

Fruit Pastilles are my favourite sweets and you can see why!!!

    Yorkie

Yorkie is my favorite type of chocolate bar. It is made by nestle. The slogan for this

chocolate bar is the chocolate bar is not for girls meaning that girls were not supposed

    to eat this chocolate bar.

There are 2 types of yorkie one is the original one and the other one is the raisin and

biscuit which I think isnt that nice. The chocolate bar is split into squares which you

can break off and eat them or share them.

Yorkies are made with Delicious chocolate. Yorkie normally cost around 1 euro in

shops but sometimes they're either cheaper or more expensive in other shops.

Yorkies are meant to be eaten as part of a balanced diet. Remember to exercise!

    Tayto Salt & Vinegar

Tayto crisps are made in County Meath. It would normally take you 50 minutes to get

there from where we live. We live in County Kildare. There are many different types

of Tayto crisps. Salt and Vinegar are blue, Cheese and Onion are red, Prawn Cocktail

is pink, Ready Salted is light blue and Smoky Bacon is orange. Tayto also makepopcorn and Chickatees. They called the company Tayto because the man that owned

Tayto had a son whose favourite vegetable was potato but his son could never

pronounce the word potato so he always said Could we have Taytos for our dinner?

For our school tour last year we went to Tayto park. Tayto park is the name of the

place where they make the crisps. There are loads and loads of rides there that you

can go on. You can make one bag of crisps from one potato.

    Liquorice

I am going to tell you about liquorice.

The texture is chewy on the outside and soft on the inside. It looks like a giant stick.

Liquorice grows in Europe and Asia. It is a root plant. You can make candy from it.

Liquorice has a lot of health benefits.

To make liquorice rope the liquorice extract is boiled to an exact temperature and

then put through a special machine that pushes out the mixture into long ropes of

liquorice. Each liquorice stick is between 2 and 10mm in diameter. They look like

    wooden sticks.

Red vines is a type of cherry flavoured candy made by the American liquoricecompany in California. It is popular liquorice that comes in long pieces that are

wound together so that you can pull them apart and eat them separately. You can use

any flavour that you want but in order for it to be red vine style liquorice you have to

    use cherry flavour.

    Health benefits

Black liquorice can benefit the circulation, breathing and gastrointestinal system

    (stomach & bowel).

Liquorice has been effective against sore throats, indigestion, heartburn, gastric

ulcers and arthritis. It is harmful to pregnant women and to those who have high

    blood pressure.

Liquorice is a very popular candy all over the

world. Egypts King Tutankhamun was buried

3000 years ago with stores of liquorice for his

    afterlife.

    Colours

Green, red, blue, black and yellow.

    Conclusion

My favourite liquorice is the green one, which is yours?

    Haribo Tangfastic

This is my report on Haribo Tangfastic sweets, hope you like it.

The bag has Tangfastic written on it in yellow and HARIBO on the top. It looks like

    this.

In the packet you can get cola bottles, dummies, sour cherries and crocodiles. When

you want to eat them you have to pull it with your teeth very hard because the can be

very tough to eat; they are chewy but not hard. They taste very nice and they are very

sour. There are many different types of Haribo but Starmix is probably the most

    popular, then Tangfastic.

If you are not allowed to have gluten you would not want to eat them.

These are my favourite sweets in the whole world and I would really recommend

them. If you want to I would look up the Tangfastic add it is very funny, it is

hilarious. Thank you for reading my report. They normally coast around 1.50 or 2.

    Irish Sweets and Treats

I have included some nice Irish treats in the box. I hope you enjoy tasting them and if

you ever get to visit my beautiful country you might try them again!

    Mint Crisp

These mint chocolate bars are crunchy to taste and refreshing. They were a favourite

of mine when I was young. They are hard to find now but thankfully there is a shop

in Naas where they are usually in stock.

    Macaroon

This is another childhood favourite of mine! They are similar in size to the Mint

Crisp, but their texture and flavour are different.

Both of the above bars are manufactured by Caffrey's in a factory in Dublin. In fact,

our class will visit the factory in June as part of our School Tour!

The other items I have included are chocolate from County Wicklow, Cleeve's Toffee,

Rock and Milk Teeth! Cleeve's Toffee comes from Newbridge, a town just 7 miles

from Naas. Newbridge is my hometown, it's where I lived until leaving for university.

Rock is a popular, tubular sweet that people often buy when visiting places around

Ireland and Britain. It is quite hard so be careful when tasting it! Milk Teeth are soft,

    smooth, chewy and delicious!

Many thanks for connecting with us, we're really looking forward to receiving your

package with all the sweets and writing.

    Hunky Dories (C & O)

    Today I'm writing about Hunky Dories (C & O).

    FLAVOUR

They taste like your average cheese & onion crisps but have a bit of more flavour

which is good because people don't just want to taste cheese & onion they want to

taste a bit more. They have something to them which gives them more flavour. I don't

know what it is but it tastes brilliant.

    LOOK

The crisps are in a green packet and the crisps themselves are displayed on the front

of the packet and they look delicious.

    TEXTURE

They have wavy texture and they're a bit rough on the sides but that doesn't matter,

    what matters is the taste!

I give these crisps 10/10 and I think they taste delicious.

    Lemon Sherbets

Lemon sherbets are a lovely and tasty Irish sweet.

    DESCRIPTION

It is a boiled sweet which can take very long to suck it until it's gone completely.

If you're a fan of sweet and sour you will love this one.

When you start sucking it, it starts off nice and sweet.

As you continue it will start to get a little sour.

As you get into the middle it will be so sour that you would want to twitch and shake.

When you get to the middle it starts to fizz.

A small plastic tin costs only 2.50.

You can actually walk into a shop and say I would like 30 euros worth of lemon

sherbets. You will probably have a giant tin and it will last as long as a 20cm in

length and 20cm in width JAWBREAKER!!!!!!!

    TEXTURE

It looks like corn except the green leaf bit at the bottom is not there!

    CONCLUSION

I really enjoyed doing this post and I hope you like the sweets!

skittles. Each drop is delicious and hard.

This is what they look like.

Skittles were first made in 1974 by a British group.

Skittles are well loved tasty sweets that are not expensive at all.

    Creme Eggs

Creme Eggs are my favourite type of sweets (candy) and are widley popular

    throughout Ireland and the UK.

A Creme Egg is made of Cadburys delicious, tasty milk chocolate and there is this

gooey, rich, creamy, sweet goo thing in the centre.

The Creme Egg wrapper is mainly red and white. In the centre at the front it says

Creme Egg and just above that it says Cadbury's in a purple oval. Creme Eggs cost

around 1.00 and in some places you can get 2 for 1.00. Creme Eggs are owned by

Cadburys but they are sold by by Kraft foods in everywhere save America because

Hershey's has the marketing rights there.

    1/2 cup light corn syrup

    1/4 cup softened butter

    1 tsp vanilla

    1/4 tsp salt

    3 cups powdered sugar

    yellow and red food coloring

12 oz bag milk chocolate chips

    2 tbsp shortening

    Steps:

    1. Put the corn syrup, butter, vanilla and salt all in one big bowl and beat thoroughly

    2. Slowly add the sugar while you are mixing (stir with a wooden spoon because the

    mixture will get very hard).

    3. Pour about 1/3 of the mixture in another smaller bowl.

    4. (Only do this 1 step to the bigger bowl)Add 4 drops each of red and yellw food

colouring and stir. The yellow and the orange will mix to be orange for the yolk.

    5. Cover both bowls and put them in the fridge for about 2 hours so the will harden.

    6. Take a small bit of the orange mixture and roll it into a ball and then cover with the

white mixture twice as thick next shape it into an oval.

    7. Put the egg onto a greased plate.

    8. Repeat this process until all the mixture is gone.

    9. Put the plate in the fridge for three to four hours.

    10. Put the chocolate chips in a glass with the shortening and microwave them for

one minute on high, stir them and then microwave them for another minute.

    11. Stick a cocktail stick or a for into the eggs and then dip them into the chocolate to

    coat them.

    12. Put them onto a rack so any excess chocolate can drip off.

    13. Leave them cool for one to two hours and then re-dip them in chocolate.

    14. Put them in the fridge for one to two hours and then, voila, you have made

    Creme Eggs!

I really like Creme Eggs and I think that they are the nicest sweets ever.
