We would like to thank the House Leaders and House Captains for their leadership, and Stuart McGregor for his continued support of our students’ sporting success. Well done to all of the students who competed in the Inter school and Loddon Mallee Region swimming carnivals, especially those who are through to the next level. Alpine School This year a select group of students from Year 9 will again have the opportunity to participate in the Department of Education and Training Alpine School Leadership Program. They will attend the program during Term 4. The successful students are: Wendy Tshuma, Milla Devlin, Jorja Brown, Ben Sartori, Declan Myers and Archie O’Halloran-Farrow. They will spend the next two terms preparing for the physical and emotional challenges of the nine-week program. We look forward to hearing about their experiences. We wish everyone a safe and happy Easter break. The program aims to raise disability awareness and promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. It is an interactive program teaching students about diversity, acceptance and disability. At the end of the presentation, participants played up to an hour of wheelchair basketball, which gave them a physical understanding of what it is like to live with a disability. Whitney Kennedy – PE Learning Leader Recently a number of students, led by Kate Dansie, participated in the World’s Greatest Shave, a Leukaemia research fundraiser. A large and vibrant crowd encouraged and cheered as Kate shaved her long locks completely off, while Madison Lloyd and Aleisha Decker had 40cm of hair lopped and others chose crazy hair makeovers. The crowd were keen to inflict some pain on Mr Domaille junior and his band of merry men who had their legs waxed for the occasion. A huge crowd was present, including many family members, as the girls and all involved raised close to the amazing total of $6,000. Well done to Kate who largely organised the event, and the VCAL and Year 10 classes who cooked and helped out throughout the campaign. All participants’ families have in some way been affected by cancer and this was their motivation. Congratulations to all involved. SHC is very proud of you.
