SVAT was founded in 1945 at Tombolo, in the province of Padova, with the company name “Veneta autotransportes TOMBOLO” from the family Frigo and Tombolato as transporters of live animals. The area was in fact rich with companies active in the field of meat the company felt the need to specialize themselves in the transport system. The next phase saw the introduction of refrige-rated trucks, in function of the distance of the routes. It is the first approach to the European market and intends to become strategic in the years to come. In 1980 SVAT decides to open itself to the market of the food industry, accentuating a speciali-zation which has brought the company to acquire a position of le-adership in the transportation and storage of frozen foods.

To guide the evolution of the company are always the three families today represented by Lucio Frigo, Giorgio Frigo and Flavio Tombola-to. In 1994 begins the process of development in the territory that while maintaining the historical seat of Tombolo, sees the progres-sive opening of other branches. The first (1994) it is called SVAT Cesena and will have the task of managing transport services in the food sector and vegetables. This is the period during which SVAT establish itself as a primary operator in the field of transport, by full load national and throughout whole Europe by using the fleet of properties. Thanks to the great experience and by following the principle of always guaranteeing a high qualitative level of service acquires a significant quotes of the market.

SVAT Services spa was born in 1996, with the goal of extending the range of services and extend the micro distribution in Italy. The company, which sees the participation of Stefano Tomasi to which is assigned the commercial direction is speciali-zing themselves in “logistics at low temperature" is quickly as-suming a leading role in the sector. In those years there wasn’t a company able to carry out its activity as a groupage and di-stribution of frozen products and the market was experien-cing its first phase of expansion. Not all the companies that pro-duced frozen were equipped to cope with the growing market, and the large multinationals were in need of a logistics centre on national territory ". The first logistics platform was set up by SVAT in Verona at the “ general stores ” , and operates until 2003, the year in which the first storage facility refrige-rator was build at Nogarole Rocca, that after further enlar-

gements today has an operating capacity of 11,500 pallet . Before the initiation of Nogarole Rocca there was already a branch operating in Montepran-done, in the province of Ascoli Piceno, with a capacity of 2,500 pallets. The types of service are of two types evenly divided. Cu-stomers that entrust us their goods on consignment and we handle on their behalf orders and delivery; customers that handle and work in cross do-cking. In both cases these are companies that have decided to manage outsourcing activities of storage and/or distribution through our system, reaching faster the final customer.

In order to meet the particular need SVAT has created an organizational model to a network that allows to over-see almost the whole Italian territory. In 2006 Svat has opened a third platform logistics equipped for the frozen in Paliano near Roma, with a capacity of 2.500 pallet which was followed with the expansion in Lom-bardy with the transfer of the subsidia-ry, existing since year 2000, to Massa-lengo near Milano, with a capacity of 11.000 pallet. Within these four areas our fleet of group moves consisting of 70 articula-ted trucks, which is flanked by about 200 carriers that work for SVAT conti-nuously and guaranteeing coverage and continuity of the service on the entire national territory. The current growth is related to the splitting of orders in part caused by the crisis and in part from the increase of the consumption of frozen products, foodservice that do not have adequate space to accommodate large orders ".In this case enters in field the service of physical distribution of frozen food that provides the delivery of frequent small quantities by suitable transport that also have access to city centres. "

A quality of service that is unmatched capable of supporting the evolution of the sale the recent years. A time ago there was a local dealer that united commercial experience and logistics. Companies today are more and more oriented towards the sale to the final user through the modern system, for this reason requires nearby structured stores and warehouses with appropriate means to ensure the cold chain, for this reason the network has been improved with the contribution of regional partners, that in respect of the rules allows you to increase the micro distribution maintaining the high stan-dard of services provided by SVAT.

The strategic areas of SVAT group spreads itself out in the territory of the European Union where they have been formed by two companies: one in Germany and one in Hungary. SVAT Deutschland, operating since 2002 provides international transport at full load and groupage on behalf of major food industries. SVAT Hungary established in 2011 with operational headquarters in Budapest manages international transport by combining competitiveness to the quality that in SVAT is tradition, in full respect of the contracts in this sector.

The main customers of SVAT 80% are food producers and distribution companies for 20 %. Annual contracts are renewed regularly and 70% of them are already 10 years with SVAT. In fact SVAT aims at a long-term relationships thanks to the flexibility in adapting to the needs of the customer and the specific knowledge of the industry. There are more than 1,000 companies that lean on SVAT for the solution of their need for transportation and logistics. Of these700 working in the field of frozen products and have chosen SVAT for the high degree of professionalism that they put at their disposal.

The facilities of the refrigerators are at the forefront controlled by a equipped computer system with continuous mo-nitoring systems. To ensure the conti-nuity of the cold chain goods are unlo-aded and loaded through the dock shelter connected to the cells of the warehouse. In the cold stores the faci-lities were build so that in the event of an emergency or lack of energy it keeps everything closed, the thermal dispersion is almost nothing this way we can say that all the goods will remain absolutely in safe conditions. The computer system handles input and output of the products on the basis of the date of expiry F. E. F. O. ; thanks to the reading of the bar codes applied by the companies all the infor-mation contained therein will be col-lected by the radio terminals the system recognizes and handles in real time all the data relating to the unit

that needs to be loaded (product, packa-ging, pallet) without the need for paper. The sampling of the products follows the orders that customers submit electronically regardless of their operating system; the system of SVAT automatically checks that these orders can be prepared and transmits the confirmations after the goods have been you picked up and shipment has been compound the documents will be printed and forwarded ensuring in real-time the updating of the stocks. Customers regularly receive the financial statements of the warehouse for a further control and updates of movements and stocks these are guaranteed from the interfaces betwe-en the respective information systems. "Thanks to the innovative information system, whose implementation was com-pleted in the course of 2013 all the SVAT offices operate on one data base. This has allowed us to reinforce and speed up the control systems. The traceability of the products in our deposit and transit is almost total. Operations of recall are carri-ed out in a short time and with the maxi-mum guarantee. Shortly our customers will be able to access - also on the internet in a reserved area - the archives SVAT to check the status and progress of an order the physical position of one or more products.

To confirm there are certifications that, for the logistics SVAT are at the highest level. SVAT is certified IFS: " International Food Standard Logistic " from 2008. All the coldstores are certificates with a EEC Mark. The standard procedures forecasted by the certification represent the system of work in SVAT . They have been introduced and are experienced with the maximum participation of all staff. The distribution model is based on a weekly delivery plan shared with the clientele which is respected and guarantees a high frequency.

In spite of the period and complex load of uncertainties such as the current that we are living, SVAT is committed to achievement of important goals expanding the range services. For over a year the branch supports the major operator in the cruise sector ensuring that the procurement service under board in European ports. The you know-how of the staff is supported by technology which now provides use the multi temperature of last generation. The branches SVAT of the south will be equipped with authorization for VAT warehouse in order to complete the territorial covera-ge (branches of northern Italy are authorized by 2007). In this way it will open the borders to the industrial operators and European commercial that wish to enter into the Italian market running smoothly and in compliance with the regulations. SVAT is investing to reinforce the service dedi-cated to nationwide distribution to refreshment points (food & beverage - ice cream parlours, ci-nemas), pharmacies and retail outlets of the GD/DO. From this year through the network SVAT is serving the airports of Italy on behalf of operators of the catering. We live in an era in which the traditional flows of transportation are reversing.
