MICHAEL DOUGLAS, HEAD OF RESILIENCE & CONTINUITY SERVICES, ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND From starting work with RBS whilst still at high school in 1998, through my time at university and then full time since 2003, I’ve seen a few changes in the bank. My own journey has included a number of roles across operations, business management, project management, security, risk and now heading up the Resilience & Continuity Services team. In my current role, held since October 2016, I lead our frameworks, metrics, reporting, operating rhythm and our partnership approach with the wider RBS business. Through all roles I have held, in work or otherwise, I am passionate about problem solving, enabling progress and leading change.

BILL BUCHANAN, PROFESSOR OF COMPUTING, EDINBURGH NAPIER UNIVERSITY Bill is a Professor in the School of Computing at Edinburgh Napier University, and a Fellow of the BCS and the IET. Bill has one of the most extensive academic sites in the World, and is involved in many areas of novel research and teaching in computing. He has published over 27 academic books, and over 200 academic research papers, along with several awards for excellence

DENNIS FLYNN, OBE MSc MBCI Dennis served as an officer in the British Army where his career focus was anti-terrorist operations and international crisis planning. After his military service he founded a consulting firm providing crisis readiness services to top-tier companies and government agencies around the world. Frustrated by his lack of knowledge about why some people and teams appeared more resilient under pressure than others, Dennis exited the firm to undertake a full-time academic programme and he now holds a Masters in Applied Positive Psychology. Positive psychology is the science of the conditions, behaviours and processes that contribute to the resilience of people, groups, and institutions. Dennis advises companies on individual resilience and crisis team performance. He is a Visiting Lecturer at Imperial College, London and provides, pro bono, resilience coaching for military veterans. His interests include hill-walking and in 2017 he successfully completed a 13-day, 300km self-supported challenge trek across the Scottish Highlands. This summer he will compete in the Fjallraven Classic, a 110 km trek across northern Sweden.

CHRIS BUTLER, PRINCIPAL CYBER & INFORMATION SECURITY CONSULTANT, SUNGARD AVAILABILITY SERVICES As principal consultant for cyber resilience and security at Sungard AS, Chris leads the development of services that integrate traditional information security products within a wider framework of organisational and cyber resilience. Following a 20-year Army career in aviation, security and counter-terrorism, Chris moved into consulting. Initially with major oil/gas firm helping major projects to close out and learn from experience; then into the nuclear sector. Working in security and resilience, Chris provided expert consultancy covering crisis, emergency and incident management; policies and plans for preparedness and response. He has further experience in strategy execution consultancy, including programme and risk management, and executive coaching in the legal, financial and health/nutrition sectors.

JOHN SWINNEY, DEPUTY FIRST MINISTER OF SCOTLAND AND CABINET SECRETARY EDUCATION AND SKILLS, THE SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT John joined the SNP in 1979 at the age of 15 and has held a number of posts within the Party at local and national level. He has been the National Secretary, Vice Convener for Publicity and Deputy Leader before leading the party from 2000-2004. John was elected as the Member of Parliament for North Tayside on 1st May 1997 in a seat that had once been the safest Conservative seat in Scotland. On 6th May 1999 John was elected as the Member of the Scottish Parliament for North Tayside. In 2011 the boundary changes meant the creation of new constituencies and John Swinney was elected as MSP for Perthshire North. He was re-elected in 2016. John is a member of the SNP Scottish Government and was the Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth from 2007-2014. In November 2014 John Swinney was appointed as Deputy First Minister of Scotland and Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Constitution and the Economy. After the Scottish Parliament election on 5th May 2016 John Swinney was re-appointed as the Deputy First Minister and is now the Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills.
