Director: Guillermo Alzate Espinosa

Research group that provides modern, simulation, production and stimulation tools for

conventional and non-conventional oil reservoirs.

Working lines : geomechanical of heavy oil reservoirs, in-situ stress determination and

mechanical earth model (MEM) construction, Sand production: prediction, quantification,

management and phenomena associated modeling, geomechanical in thermal

recovery, hydraulic fracturing in heavy oil reservoirs, numerical analysis of production

processes coupled with geomechanics, subsidence and compaction analysis, stress-

strain constitutive models in heavy oil reservoirs, caprock integrity, wellbore stability,

conventional reservoir geomechanics, etc.

Interdisciplinary workteam, formed by a bachelor, master, doctorate students and

proffesors in petroleum engineering.

7th INTERNATIONAL GEOMECHANICS SYMPOSIUM

Objective:

To promote an academic venue about actual geomechanic challenges in hydrocarbonexploitation and production, gathering a group of national and internationalspecialists and representatives of main oil Colombian companies, who will analyzegeomechanical application in exploration, characterization and exploitation of heavyoil reservoirs and the most pressing academic and technological issues that must beresolved about this topic.
