Dear Students, Faculty, Parents & Friends,

Although almost all children aged 6-14 years go to school in the country,

many adolescents, especially girls, do not reach or complete secondary

education. While there are several reasons for this, one of the main reasons

is that many parents feel that secondary education is not relevant for them.

There are expectations that girls will help with domestic chores, learn to

undertake household responsibilities and get prepared for marriage.

But we need to tell them that educated women tend to be healthier,

participate more in the formal labour market, earn more income, have fewer

children, and provide better health care and education to their children, all

of which eventually improve the well-being of all individuals and can lift

households out of poverty.

Let us all work together for the education of our girls!

Teachers Day, by felicitating Ms. Laxmi Narayan Tripathi.

Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay B. Chordiya on the Teachers Day gave the message that teachers should be role models and inspiration for the students, and students should love, respect and trust the teacher. On the occasion The Chairman gave assurance that Suryadatta will not only teach but will have good relationship and friendship with the students.

The Suryadatta Group of Institutes observed the Teachers Day, by felicitating all the teachers by the students. The institute marked the day by felicitating Ms. Laxmi Narayan Tripathi. Laxmi Narayan Tripathi is a transgender rights activist who taught the students that if you have the determination and passion you can achieve anything in life. They received awards from Prof.

Mr. Rahul Solapurkar, the well known Marathi Actor was the chief Guest and gave a motivational speech. Students celebrated Teachers Day by presenting Deep Prajawalan, Ganesh Vandana, Saraswati Vandana & Floral tributes to Sarvepalli Dr. Radhakrishnan. This was followed by the cultural extravaganza by national and international students of Suryadatta based on the theme of patriotism and salutation to Global teachers' community.

Mr. A. K. Jain gave an example of Thomas Edison who invented the 'Bulb', after 10000 unsuccessful experiments. Sushanta Chatterjee is a professional with 14 years’ experience in Learning & Development spread around in Training, Assessment Operation, Organisational D e v e l o p m e n t , P r o c e s s I m p l e m e n t a t i o n a n d Corporate Relations. He served with an incubate company of Indian Institute of Management – Bangalore, in Testing & Assessment Services. He used to lead Assessment unit which specialized in creating Pre-Recruitment Assessments for Corporate.

Prior to joining Suryadatta Group of Institutes, he was consulting few B-Schools in Bangalore. He also worked with close to 40 schools in Karnataka over implementation of Experiential Learning Cycle (ELC).

She was Manager, Continuing Education at PRIA, New Delhi. Dr. Ara has Experience of working for a bi-national organisation on higher education at Shastri Indo-Canadian Inst i tute (SICI) New Delhi as its Country Director. Before

joining Suryadatta Group of Institutes Dr. Ara was serving as Associate Professor & HoD, at Xavier Institute of Management (XIMJ). She has been Editor of Research & Development Journal of HelpAge India and Vikas Vani Journal of XIMJ. She has M.A.and Ph.D. in Sociology from Karnatak University Dharwad and trained in continuing education at University of Victoria, Canada.

Industrial Visits organized during the Month 8th September 2015 30 students of PGDM – I & III Sem visited TATA Motors Car Unit Plant, Chikhali, Pune. The areas visited by the students include: manufacturing area of car parts, assembly areas of cars units, painting, welding and quality control units in manufacturing areas of cars, pantry area and dispatch area.

9th September 2015A group of 50 students of MBA (2015-17) visited the state of the art manufacturing facility at Chakan of Forbes Marshall, India's leading Steam Engineering and Control Instrumentation company. SCHMTT regularly organizes lectures by Industry professionals which add value to the Hotel Management Curriculum. On 24th September 2015 Mr. Shivaji Desai, spoke about the food safety regulations & the procedure involved for procuring licenses for different food establishments.

Mr. Desai started the lecture by explaining that the Food Safety and Standard Act 2006 is an Act to consolidate the laws relating to food and to establish the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India for laying down science based standards for articles of food and to regulate their manufacture, storage, distribution, sale and import, to ensure availability of safe and wholesome food for human consumption.

As per the ACT 'Food' means any substance, whether processed, partially processed or unprocessed, which is intended for human consumption and includes primary food, genetically modied or engineered food or food containing such ingredients, infant food, packaged drinking water, alcoholic drink, chewing gum, and any substance, including water used into the food during its manufacture, preparation or treatment but does not include any animal feed, live animals unless they are prepared or processed for placing on the market for human consumption, plants, prior to harvesting, drugs and medicinal products, cosmetics, narcotic or psychotropic substances.

Mr. Desai explained that to start any kind of food business a license has to be obtained. This can be done by applying online by going on the FSSAI website. For business less than 12 lakhs only a registration process has to

be done which is simpler. As per the Act. it is mandatory for the department to issue the license within two months of receiving the application.

Mr. Desai informed the students that Food safety and food hygiene are very important in the food business and the Act lays a great emphasis on it. It endeavors to achieve an appropriate level of protection of human life and health and the protection of consumer's interests. Mr. Desai said that the information on the label of packaged products should be genuine and accurate. The date of expiry should be checked before consumption.

Rising Star of SuryadattaMaster Shreyas Waghmare student of Suryadatta Junior College became the topper in Kick Boxing competition held at Pune distrct level conducted by Pune Zillha Parishad which paved a way for him to Maharashtra state level matches held on 5th and 7th Sept 2015 respectively, at Wagholi. Shreyas emerged as a winner and won Gold medal at state level to keep the ag of Suryadatta Junior College ying high. Shreyas achieved this feat in age group below 19 years and 79 KG weight category.

Football Team Football Team of Suryadatta Junior college achieved 4th rank in recently conduced Pune Zillha Pa r i shad’s ma tches he ld a t Fu lgoan on 4th September 2015. Total no of teams participated in this league was 18. Out of 18 team members of Suryadatta, 2 are now selected in Maharashtra state Junior football team.

The teams are guided by Suryadatta's sports teacher; Ms. Pornima Nivangune. Considering this is the rst year of participation of Suryadatta Junior College in sports matches at district and state level, this is indeed an incredible achievement.CONGRATULATIONS 'SURYANS'.

Academic UpdateExcellent Start was made for the Academic Year 2015-16 with around 450 new students

SJC conducted Unit Test I Exams successfully after various meticulous sessions of revision and painstaking hard work by the students, which obviously gave ying colors to the students.

Mrs. Rachana Vishwanathan Principal of Textile Department at SNDT, Pune stated in the seminar “After completion of the course at least ten different elds in fashion design, provides the option of selecting the career”. Mrs. Viswanathan told the students through the graphical presentation of the present scenario in the Fashion & Textile Industry. “Students after completing their education have plenty of options viz. Fashion Photographer, Fashion Journalist, Fashion Editor, Fashion Merchandiser, Costume Designers, Visual Merchandiser, Fashion Designer, Pattern Maker, Fashion Writer Graphic Designers, Personal Stylist & Fashion Runway Model these are the available opportunities for deserving candidates to shape your career”, added Dr. Viswanathan.

Mr. Rajesh Khele, senior Animation expert said in the seminar, the curiosity of the kids at the age of three to twelve years in ‘children Animation’ is tremendous. Considering the special interest and their attractions, Animation & Graphic Design should be made for them and for their intellectual development. This area of Animation is more effective for their future growth. For better knowledge one needs to practice the children’s psychology. If we plan courses, to provide skills & training for small kids as well as young students the main goal, would be really worth doing something for their betterment, added Mr. Rajesh. The grass root level of the high prole of the media business is being implemented to provide a platform to show their skills in creativity. He also expressed his

opinion & views regarding gaming animation at the end of his speech.

Dr. Ashutosh Misal, Senior Interior Designer "The independent practice of Interior Professionals has still not become very popular and not free to choose Interior Designer which is available for thirty years, despite the independent work and education opportunities are available in the market. But effortlessly completing even two year Diploma of Interior Design and two years of apprenticeship under a distinguished Interior Designer one can start own profession", stated by senior Interior Designer Dr. Ashutosh Misal. You can often start your own business; it just takes a couple of years. To become Interior Designers & truly making fabulous career at least two years to complete the education. Categorically the right direction to get the students career is very important. There are Certicate, Diploma, Graduate & Post Graduate level or categories though which one can undergo the training / learning program & can make own career ourish", he said in his concluding speech.

Recently the Suryadatta Institute of Fashion Technology (SIFT) received an opportunity to perform with Blaze makeup studio. Mrs. Shweta Deshmukh had arranged a Bridal Makeup Competition for the beauticians in Pune. The second year and third year bachelor students presented two fashion shows.

The second year student's fashion show theme was Art Diary - The Sun Temple. The theme inspiration was taken by Sun temples motifs and the designs were printed on Western silhouettes. Total 10 Garments were designed and stitched by the students were presented at the show.

The third year student's fashion show theme was Traditional Twist. The theme inspiration was taken from the old sarees and were designed and stitched into western patterns. Total 11 Patterns were presented by B.Sc 2nd year students.

A total of around 20 SIFT students had participated in the show.

TexturesThis assignment of textures for the students was to study the properties held and sensations caused by the external surface of objects received through the sense of touch. Texture is used to describe to feel the non tactile sensation. Aspects of texture are: To tactile qualities of a surface, to manipulate three-dimensional substance and the visual qualities of surface and substance. Mediums used for textures are effects of combing, scribbling, spraying, stabling etc.

PUNE INSTITUTE OF APPLIED TECHNOLOGY (PIAT)

PIAT conducted a Workshop by ASIAN PAINTS on 29th & 30th September, 2015. Asian Paints is one of the well known & leading brands in paint industries. Mr. Wilson D'souza, Head of Marketing & Sales with his team conducted the workshop.

For 2nd year students the workshop was on Texture painting: Color Introduction, Types of colors, Wall treatments, Textures & their application, Availability & variety of options available in market, Estimation & Budgeting, Durability, Different types of effects & their application.

For 1st year students the workshop was on Colours covering topics: Color Introduction, Color theory, Color psychology, Color schemes, Tints, Shades, Hue, Color wheel, Color types & their application .
