ADDITIONAL ARCHITECTURAL OR STRUCTURAL DESCRIPTION:
Classic Cottage main block with recessed gable-roofed, 1-1/2 story wing run
ning south. There is a large gambrel barn south of the wing linked to it by
means of an enclosed shed passageway. The trabeated front entrance includes
a full entablature above. Pilasters, three-quarter length sidelights and a
seven-panel door. One of the windows in the pair to the left oft the doorway
has been blocked up with masonite clapboards over an earlier layer of asphalt
that also obscures cornerboards and a frieze. The roof cornice is plain and
narrow, without returns, and overhangs about one foot. Window openings have
plain surrounds and contain 1/1 sash. The 36' wing contains a short
recessed porch sheltering a second entrance flanked by windows. A garage
entrance is at the far end of the wing. A one-story, 10-foot shed passageway
connects the wing to the 40' x 60 ' , two-level, 3 x 4 bay gambrel barn. A
lower, more modern arched-roof, two-level wing has recently been added to

door. All of the barn structure has been recently sheathed with sheet metal
siding. At the center of the roof of the main barn is a square cupola with a
low, hipped roof and small square louvered vents. RELATED STRUCTURES:

STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE:
These buildings have undergone considerable changes, but retain many of
their original features. The barn probably dates fromthe early 1900's.
It was raised when the present dairy stable was added underneath.
