CHILDREN AND FAMILY SERVICES
Children, Youth and Family Services (CYFS) – Provides crisis services and investigates all child abuse and neglect allegations within Venango County. The agency also delivers ongoing case management services to all families open for services, and offers independent living services to qualified youth. CYFS actively recruits and maintains licensed resource families for children when placement is necessary. Venango County Children and Youth case management services conduct home visits, assess the safety of children, and refer children/family to appropriate services within the community while striving to achieve safety and permanency for all children. 814-432-9100
Early Intervention Services – Provides support and services to infants and toddlers from birth to age three who have special needs due to developmental delays or disabilities. 814-432-9100

Foster Care Program – Provides licensed homes that provide temporary shelter and care in a family-like setting. 814-432-9100
Independent Living (IL) – Youth in Foster Care are provided with supportive services designed to assist them in preparing for employment, education, and successful management of adult responsibilities. 814-432-9100
Student Assistance Program – Provides screening for substance abuse and mental health concerns and makes recommendations to the families and students for services. Offers on-site crisis intervention. 814-432-9100
Truancy Outreach – Provides preventative and supportive services to students and their families within the school district. Truancy Outreach is designed to provide short-term interventions to alleviate barriers that are affecting the student’s academic potential. This is done in a manner that is voluntary and respects the many differences between families. 814-432-9100

Community Support Services (CSS) – Provides a variety of services to assist families and individuals in ways that help them alleviate day to day stressors. Support is delivered through many programs including: nutrition, child care, utilities, employment and transportation. 814-432-9767
Housing Services – Offers temporary or emergency short-term shelter of one to two nights for homeless individuals or families. Rental assistance may also be available to residents who need assistance in finding permanent housing. 814-432-9200
Life Coach Program – Supports individuals identified as struggling in building a sustainable lifestyle. This program primarily supports transition-aged youth who need help with employment, education, and housing. 814-432-9200
Mental Health/Intellectual Disability Services – Venango County provides services to children and adults with mental health and intellectual disabilities. Services are available to support individuals without discrimination. Publicly-funded disability services in the county are

delivered by credentialed/licensed agencies who provide intellectual disability services. Our agency offers support coordination to assess the needs of individuals referred for services and follows through with referrals and by monitoring the progress of those eligible for services. 814-432-9200 Protective/Intake/Crisis Unit (PIC) – Crisis, protective, and intake services for all county programs in Human Services. Service coordinators investigate allegations of abuse or neglect for children and older adults. The also perform mental health crisis intervention and delegate functions. 814-432-9111
Venango County Substance Abuse –Drug and alcohol services available to county residents including assessment and evaluations that are completed at no cost to the individual. Case management services are in place to assist and support individuals in referrals to treatment providers and the coordination of additional services. OLDER ADULT SERVICES Older Adult Services –The primary goal is to foster and maintain independent living for older county residents by active planning, coordination, and resource management. Protective services, assessment, and on-going service coordination are provided to older adults. Additional services are provided indirectly by subcontracting with private vendors. 814-432-9711
Adult Daily Living Program – Adult Daily Living facilities are available to provide a means to improve the older adult’s level of functioning in order to maintain their independence in their home and community. Meals and snacks are provided. 814-432-9711
APPRISE Health Insurance Counseling – Older Pennsylvanians are provided health insurance counseling by trained volunteers. They also help with problems filing medical claims, comparing Medigap policies, and many other issues are addressed. 814-432-9711 Home Delivered Meals – The program provides one hot meal per day, five days a week and frozen meals are available for the weekends. This service is available to homebound individuals remaining in their own homes. 814-432-9711

Home Health Care Services – Services available include: nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy. As with other services for older adults, the goal is to enable them to remain in the community. 814-432-9711
Home Support – Those individuals in need of basic housekeeping activities, shopping, and laundry may utilize this service in order to ensure safe and sanitary conditions in the home. 814-432-9711
Legal Assistance – This counseling focuses on legal issues confronting the elderly including: benefits and rights, wills, taxes, and any miscellaneous services. 814-432-9711 Ombudsman – Investigates and resolves complaints made by or for older persons who are consumers of long term care services. 814-432-9711 Personal Care –This service provides assistance with daily living activities such as: feeding, skin and mouth care, bathing, ambulation, hair care, grooming, shaving, dressing, transfer activities, toileting, meal preparation, and assistance with self-administration of medications. 814-432-9711 Personal Emergency Response System (PERS) – Electronic device which enables certain high-risk consumers to receive help in the event of an emergency. 814-432-9711 Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) – Provides a variety of opportunities for older adults to serve their community by volunteering their time. RSVP provides

meaningful opportunities for persons of all ages to participate in providing services to the elderly. Volunteer opportunities are limitless and include a wide variety of host sites. The RSVP program matches potential volunteers with host sites based on individual interest and skills. 814-432-9723
Transportation – The program enables individuals to travel to and from community facilities to receive social and medical services, or otherwise promote independent living. The service “escort” can accommodate individuals who have special needs and need door-to-door service. Vehicles equipped with a lift are also available to assist anyone with wheelchair, walkers, etc. 814-432-9711
Senior Centers
Senior Centers provide recreational, leisure time and cultural activities for members of the community over the age of 60. Activities may include planned arts and crafts, sports, physical fitness, and cultural enrichment to aid in the development of social skills for individuals with disabilities by providing opportunities to participate in activities and discussion groups. Additional services offered at the centers are designed to overcome isolation and encourage functioning in community life. Other activities include: organizing volunteer community service projects, personal safety, health programs, and other programs of interest to participants.
