Teachers PackTEACHERS

The following teachers pack offers teachers a wide variety of activities associated with the show,

Superlosers. Activities range from games and exercises based on the language in the show to a

synopsis of the plot and a comprehensive vocabulary list. Sheets with the smiling child header should

be photocopied and distributed to students, whereas the ones marked teachers can be used asreference for yourselves.

We strongly recommend preparing students before coming to see a show. A Face to Face show

in itself may be rewarding but understanding and appreciation are greatly increased as a result of

previous preparation and post show activities. The fact that the students have a basic grasp of the

plot and the vocabulary facilitates not only their understanding but also the work of the actors thus

ensuring an activity benecial to all those involved.

Face to Face would also like to stress the fact that their shows are live theatrical events and therefo-

re certain basic conditions should be respected. Please remind students not to leave the auditorium

during the show; not to eat or drink; to respect the other students and participants and that the idea

of the show is NOT to test their English but to have FUN! All the above conditions are easily met with

the presence and co-operation of you, the teacher.

TEACHERS

Denition game

Write down all the words that appear in

the show on a piece of paper. Put them

into a bag. One member of the class

picks a word and the other students

have to ask questions about the word in

order to nd out what the word is.

The student can only answer YES or

NO. Every time the student says no a

mark is put up on the board.

Blackboard Game

Stick pictures of various objects relevant to

the show on the blackboard. Split the class

into two teams and give a number to each

member of the team. For example, if the

teams have ve members each then number

each team from one to ve. The teams sit at a

distance from the blackboard and the teacher

shouts out a number, then an object. The rst

member of the team that touches the object

on the board wins a point. The gane continues

until one of the teams reaches the set number

of ponts: for example, the rst team to reach

ten points wins.

Plot Synopsis

1. Have the students listen to the plaot

synopis and answer any possible ques-

tions.

2. Play the CD and have the students llin a gap exercise that you the teacher

create.

This is Jack Lipshitz, an ex super hero. In his day he was a crime ghting machine, he

could run faster than a speeding bullet, jump higher than the tallest building, he could save

kittens from trees He destroyed Featherbottom, with one fatal blow, he killed FootballHead, with one swift kick

And then one sad day, the old lady he was helping cross the street was hit by a truck and

died, destroying his condence and thus losing his super powers.

Today, Jack Lipshitz works as a janitor in SCI-TECH Technologies.

Opening Monologue

Scientists Monologue

My invention will change the way humans dispose of their garbage. This fuse converts gar-bage into energy. I will now demonstrate. Excuse me, sir, may I please have your plastic

bottle? This machine will turn this bottle into energy to light up this light bulb. You see? Now,

imagine what an entire bag of garbage could do. Or what an entire rubbish yard could do.

VOODOOMAN: Whats up, baby?

BAG LADY: Hello, Mr. Voodooman. I need your help.

VOODOOMAN: Well, you have come to the right place. Who is that?

BAG LADY: That is the President of the United States.

VOODOOMAN: Cool man! So, what can I do you for?

BAG LADY: I need your help. Ive got a problem with Super Loser. I

want him dead.

VOODOOMAN: Oooooh, I hate Super Loser. Sure thing, baby, Ill help you.

Ive got just the thing for you. A voodoo doll.

BAG LADY: A voodoo doll? Whats that?

VOODOOMAN: Whatever harm you do to this doll you will do to Super Lo

ser.

BAG LADY: Thats excellent! How much is it?

VOODOOMAN: 100 dollars.

BAG LADY: Oh, well, I dont have any money Im a bag lady. Wait, Ill

trade you the voodoo doll for the President of the United

States.

VOODOOMAN: Well, I dont know

BAG LADY: Hes worth much, much more than 100 dollars.

VOODOOMAN: Deal.

This is ex-super hero, Jack . He is hard at work, cleaning the Technology Center. A

very important conference is taking place in the laboratory. The scientist, Ms. Eileen

McClean, will reveal her new Energy-Converting Rubbish Machine. The guest of ho-

nor is the President of the United States. A horrible accident turns the scientist into

the evil Bag Lady. Bag Lady kidnaps the President and escapes. Jack has lost his

super powers and is unable to save the President.

Scene One: The Sci Tech Labs

Plot Synopsis

Jack is overweight and out of practice. He needs to go to Super School to get back

his super powers. His classmates at the school are: Ice Queen and Wolfman. The

teacher tests their abilities. Jack and the other students learn how to y, use ex-ray

vision, and stop a bullet. Finally, class is over. A message comes from Bag Lady.

She tells him to go to the Voodoo Lounge where Voodooman lives. Jack has his rst

mission as Super Loser!

Scene Two: Super School

Plot Synopsis

Jack follows the Bag Ladys instructions. Jack and Ice Queen go to the Voodoo Lo-

unge where they will try to rescue the President. But the Bag Lady and Voodooman

will trap Super Loser and kill him. The Bag Lady uses a Voodoo Doll to torture Super

Loser. Thankfully, Ice Queen is there to save the day. Ice Queen helps Super Loser

escape and they chase the Bag Lady.

Scene Three: Voodoo Lounge

Scene Four: The Final Showdown

Thanks to the Ice Queen, Super Loser is still alive. But the Bag Lady is on her way

back to the Technology Center to destroy the world. Will the evil Bag Lady suc-

ceed? Or will Super Loser stop the evil Bag Lady once and for all?
