AWARDS DAY SCHEDULE Tuesday, May 28th is Awards Day. The awards will be presented in the gymnasium, so come in, sign in and get a badge and we will direct you to the right spot. KINDERGARTEN FOR 2013 – 2014 If you missed the Kindergarten Round-up for the 2013-14 school year, you can still sign your child up! We have enrollment packages ready and waiting for you to come and fill out so that we can get your kindergartener on our books! SUNNY HEIGHTS UNIFORMLY DRESSED CODE 2013 – 2014

Sunny Heights Elementary is a “UNIFORMLY DRESSED CODE” school. The expectation is that Sunny Heights students will be dressed in appropriate school attire that promotes a positive school learning climate. Students are responsible for dressing and grooming appropriately for educational activities which follow school guidelines. Students will dress and groom themselves in any manner that is not disruptive to the educational environment or dangerous to themselves or others. Students who violate the dress code policy will receive a referral and could be suspended.

Pants: Slacks, capris and finger-tip length shorts, skirts, jumpers and skorts, in solid colors Pants should be appropriately sized, not too tight or too loose. no denim, denim look-alike or look-alike jeans; NO skinny legs Leggings MUST be worn under skirts/dresses ONLY NO jeggings No skirts made of tulle or sheer fabric (for example, Tutu) If pants are too large, they must be worn with a belt. NO PLAID

Colors: Any solid colors NO sequence or sparkles on pants

Belts: Optional – if worn, the belt must be a solid color; NO shiny belts. No decorative belt buckles.

Shirts: Collared with sleeves (long or short sleeved); examples: polo, button down Turtlenecks Striped shirts may be worn No crew neck except spirit wear or college wear days Appropriately sized Must be tucked in unless shirt is shorter than hip length NO hooded clothing (sweaters, sweatshirts, etc.) NO PLAID

No light-up shoes Jewelry/Hair accessories:

Small post/stud earrings only. Plain watches are allowed. (No toy watches or distracting watches are allowed.) No bracelets. No necklaces. No gold chains. No wristbands or silly bands. No excessive hair accessories.

Students will wear hats during the winter or on rainy days. All hoods, hats, skull caps, and/or scarves must be removed at the front door.

No baseball caps. Students are not allowed to wear anything distracting or disruptive to the educational environment.

No make-up shall be worn at school (clear lip balm is allowed) No body piercings No fake fingernails/or distracting nail polish. No tattoos of any kind No facial paintings No painted hair colors No excessive hair designs (no messages shall be shaved in hair styles).

Students will be uniformly dressed everyday including PICTURE DAY. If any controversy arises because of a fad or some specific clothing that is being worn either by male or female students, it should be referred to the Principal or the Dean. The Principal or Dean will make a final judgment on appropriate school attire to ensure a safe and orderly school environment. We reserve the right to send a student home or ask the parent to bring a change if the student’s clothing is not appropriate. When possible the school will provide a change of clothing at school. Clothing borrowed from the school MUST be returned. If items are not returned, a fee may be assessed to replace the items (for example, pants- $5.00, shirts – 4.00). Additional notes: Sunny Heights Elementary spirit wear may be worn on any day (with collar). Scout uniforms may be worn on meeting days. Jeans days and Spirit days will be scheduled throughout the year (examples: Colts day, Red & Gold day). Shorts may be worn at the beginning of school until Fall Intersession as well as after Spring Intersession until the end of the school year.

**As of 4/15/13, this dress code document is a “draft”. Official dress code guidelines will be posted on our Sunny Heights website (www.warren.k12.in.us) by June 1, 2013. **

REPORT CARDS Final report cards will be distributed on the last day of school. No report cards will be given out prior to this day. If a student is absent on the last day of school, report cards can be picked up at the school office no later than Friday, June 7th. REPORT CARDS WILL NOT BE MAILED. If you have any questions, please contact the school office at 532-2900.
