Becoming a Christian...We believe that it is by grace that we are saved

through our response of faith, believing that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died to take the penalty of our sins on Himself, and that He was raised from the dead on the third day by the power of God. God calls people to believe in Jesus as their Savior, repent of sin in their life, make a confession of faith that Jesus is Lord and be joined to Christ and added to His church by being immersed (baptized) in His name. Having made this response of faith to God, all sin is forgiven and we receive the gift of God's Holy Spirit to live in us and to empower us to live for Jesus. All those who come to faith in Him may request immersion at any time.

Becoming a Member at Westside...All believers, who by faith in Jesus

have been baptized through immersion for forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit, may place their membership at Westside. You may express your desire to one of our elders or ministers, or mark the appropriate space on our visitor card. Members here are under the spiritual care of our shepherds and committed to service and full participation with the family of God at this congregation.

Responding...You may request immersion (baptism), re-commit your life, or

seek prayers on your behalf by going forward during the time of response or by contacting an elder, a minister, or any member of this congregation at any time.

Bible Study…Join us on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30p.m. and Sundays from 10:30a.m.-11:30a.m. for a variety of topics in #601.

The Mission at Kern County—Canned Food Drive

This month we are proud to organize a canned food drive for The Mission at Kern County. The Mission serves an average of 500 meals a day to some of the neediest people right here in our community. Our church has partnered with The Mission on several occasions and we need your help one more time! Please stop by the Salt and Light booth to pick up an info sheet that contains a shopping list of the items they need most. See Bryan or Traci Fojtasek for more details.

Beach Bonfire—If you would like to go to one more beach bonfire with youth groups from all over Southern California, please talk to Bryan or Reilly to sign up. We are taking a trip on Tuesday August 9. Cost is $5 plus the cost of your lunch. Dinner is provided free of charge.

End of Summer Party—We are organizing a trip to Hurricane Harbor water park for this Saturday, August 13. The cost is $25. Please see Bryan to sign up.

Girls’ Group—The last girls’ group of the summer will be tomorrow Monday, August 8 at 7p.m. in #604. See Traci for more details.

Open Gym Night—No Open Gym this week due to the beach trip.

Wednesday Night Recharge—All 7th-12th grade students are invited to attend our midweek gathering at 6:30p.m. in room #604. Our time together will be focused on worship, building relationships and motivating one other to spread the good news of Jesus in our community.

San Diego Youth Rally—If you are interested in going to the San Diego Youth Rally at Canyon View Church of Christ, please see Bryan for more details. If enough students want to go, we will send a group! The dates are September 2-4, and we would need to leave at 9:00am on Friday. The cost is $40 plus $10 gas money.

There will be a Ladies’ Bible Class planning session on Thursday, August 11, 9:30a.m. in the WAC (#520). Come with your thoughts and ideas on this upcoming year of Ladies’ Bible Class.

Lost & Found...Do you think you lost something at church? Come by the lost and found at the Guest Services Counter to see if we have it. All items will be thrown away or donated after August 15.

Woman of Faith Belong Tour is coming up on September 9 - 10 in Ontario, CA . We have 20 tickets available. Please sign up at the information counter by August 28th.

Elders Corner...We would like to thank the Westside body for the love and support you have expressed to us during this time of transition. After much prayer and discussion, we have entered into a relationship with Interim Ministry Partners. Our interim minister will be Mark Frost. His bio will be included in next week’s bulletin, and his first weekend with us will be August 27th - 28th. Please be praying for this time of transition as we ask God to guide us to the preaching minister he has been preparing for Westside.
