Mass Readings and Intentions
FROM FATHER TERRY J+M+J
With COVID-19, one of the things that was so absent from our lives was the ability to receive the Eucharist. I think we have all grown in our appreciation for Holy Communion due to our inability to receive the Eucharist. Coming to mind is the saying, “Absence makes the heart grow fonder.” It was so moving to see people come up and receive Holy Communion this past week. Today we celebrate the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ also known as Corpus Christi. It is on this day that we rejoice in the awesome gift of the Eucharist. Our Catholic faith proclaims that, Jesus is truly, mysteriously, and substantially present in the Eucharist under the mere appearance of bread and wine. This is our firm belief since the time of the apostles. To be Catholic is to believe in the True Presence. We are reminded today of our continual call to deepen our love and understanding of the Eucharist. We do this through such things as prayer, study, and charity. A wonderful way to pray is to come before the Blessed Sacrament. Although our churches are not open at this time for private prayer, we have been offering a livestreamed Holy Hour, once a week, over the last couple of months. God will not be bound by the tv or computer. That is, his love and grace will still flow through these mediums. As we celebrate today’s great feast, I invite you to take part in our livestreamed Holy Hour this Sunday, June 14, from 1 – 2 p.m. Please find the schedule for other prayer opportunities for the week in the bulletin. As you will recall, we began public Masses on June 5. They have been going great! I thank you for your courage, patience, and cooperation. Please find in the bulletin a piece I wrote in regard to the public Masses, especially as we move forward. Thanks again. In light of our green status, the Administrative Center at St. Angela is now “officially” open. I use the quotes because, as a life-sustaining entity, we have been trying to meet your needs throughout the COVID crisis. This Monday, June 15, we will return to our normal hours of Monday – Friday from 9:15 – 4:15 p.m. As you come to the office, you are asked to adhere to the following: Wear a mask and respect social distancing. Also, if possible, we ask that you call us when arriving in the parking lot so we can open the door for you to eliminate the touching of surfaces. Thank you for your cooperation. I am happy to announce that, with gratitude to Our Lord Jesus Christ, Mr. Michael J. Faix, son of Jeffrey and JoAnn Faix, of our parish has been called by his Bishop, the Most Reverend David A. Zubik, D.D., to the order of Priesthood to be conferred at an ordination ceremony to be held on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 10 a.m., in St. Paul Cathedral, Pittsburgh. We congratulate Michael! We are so proud of him and so blessed to have a vocation from our parish. Michael’s First Mass will be on Sunday, June 28 at Corpus Christi at 1:00 p.m. Due to the COVID restrictions, both the ordination and the First Mass are by invitation only, however, the ordination will be livestreamed. Please see the bulletin for details. As things continue to open, we hope to have Michael come back to celebrate Mass for us at a later date. Please keep Michael and his family in your prayers for this monumental occasion.
I call your attention to two special celebrations this week. Friday, June 19, is the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus followed on Saturday, June 20 by the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary. How amazing these two hearts are! Hearts filled with faith, hope, love, purity, mercy, patience, kindness, courage, chastity, and joy. What comes to our hearts in contemplating these two hearts? All are welcome to attend our 8:30 a.m. Mass to celebrate the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Although we do not have a morning Mass on Saturday for the Immaculate Heart, perhaps we can say a rosary to remember this special feast. May we strive to have hearts like Jesus and Mary. Jesus and Mary, pray for us!
Finally, I will be interviewed on a live video show on Facebook/YouTube called Confidently Speaking with D.O.C. this Thursday, June 11, at 7:00 p.m. The link is: https://www.facebook.com/docshirey/videos/10219620296651926/?d=n

UPDATED GRADUAL REOPENING PLAN
MONDAY, JUNE 8, 2020
(THIS TAKES THE PLACE OF ANY PRIOR SCHEDULE)
I hope you enjoyed attending Mass this weekend. It was great to see you again around the altar! I was very moved to see you come up to receive Jesus in the Eucharist after so long a time. The average attendance for our five weekend Masses was 47. This is wonderful for our first Sunday back. I believe that it will take some time for us to get used to returning to Mass. Please note that there is no obligation to attend Mass.
Until further notice, we are limited to 25% capacity per Mass. With an average of 47 people, we still have plenty of seating in our churches. Since we have adequate room, we will continue to operate on a first come, first served basis. Based on last weekend’s attendance, it is fitting to continue with 5 weekend Masses at this time. The gradual reopening schedule is below. Please notice some changes in Mass times in order to create more options. Please find instructions below, especially to bring a piece of paper with your information on it. I thank you for your patience in this ever-changing landscape. Daily Mass: Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. St. Angela (Doors open at 8 a.m.) Saturday 4:00 p.m. Corpus Christi (Doors open at 3 p.m.)
4:30 p.m. St. Angela (Doors Open at 3:30 p.m.) (Livestream)
Sunday 8:30 a.m. St. Patrick (Doors open at 7:30 a.m.) 9:30 a.m. St. Robert (Doors open at 8:30 a.m.) 11:00 a.m. St. Angela (Doors open at 10 a.m.)
(Livestream)
Important Instructions for Masses
• Masks must be worn.
• Social distancing of 6 feet must be kept (except for families/those in close contact).
• Hand Sanitizer will be available upon entry and exit.
• We must keep track of participants at Mass in case any participants test positive for COVID-19. We would then contact all participants to notify them of the situation. In order to keep track of participants, we ask that each participant bring with them a small piece of paper that includes their name and phone number (numbers are easier to read than emails). You will be asked to drop the piece of paper in a basket upon entry. If you do not have this prepared, we will send you to a designated area to fill out such information. Thus, we ask that you come prepared to help expedite entry into the church.
• For St. Angela: There is a Drop-Off Zone at the main front entrance of the church. Due to the nature of the precautions and the first come basis, the elevator will not be in use.
• Masses at St. Angela will be livestreamed so by attending you are consenting to be filmed at Mass, which goes to multiple social media outlets.
Reconciliation: To lessen cleaning, Reconciliation will continue to be held in the parking lot. Thursdays, 5 – 6 p.m. at St. Angela’s Parking Lot and Saturdays, 12 – 1 p.m. at St. Robert’s Parking Lot. You must wear a mask.
Note: We are in need of Church Cleaners and Monitors. If interested, please call the rectory at 412-672-9641 or email Kathleen at [email protected].
ST. VINCENT dePAUL GOLF OUTING
Dear Friends,
After careful consideration
due to the Corona Virus the
golf committee and I have
decided to go ahead with the
SVDP Golf Outing. A
mitigating factor also was the
fact that the SVDP and the
Orphanage that we help could surely use the money
that we raise. Also a lot of the golfers who have been
participating for the past 21 years look forward to this
event.
The attached flyer is for all prospective golfers
and donors. A lot of very thoughtful and generous
people and businesses have contributed in the past
with cash and gifts and hopefully those able to will
continue to do so. Although we realize a lot of
businesses and individuals are going through some
rough times we hope things get better soon.
Precautionary measures will be taken for every
ones safety. The club house and snack room will be
closed and registration will be outside. We will
practice safe distancing as much as possible. It would
also be helpful if you payed in advance.
If you plan on golfing please register as soon as
possible so that we know how many golfers we will
have even if you have to change members of your
foursome later.
Thank you for any help you can give and
hopefully we will have a good turnout, and enjoyable
day and a successful event. God Bless.
Sincerely,
John Dudo, Director
BLUE BINS ARE EMPTY!
The St. Vincent dePaul Society is again collecting
clothing, shoes, blankets, towels,
etc. to sell in their stores. The
blue bins at St. Angela's and
St. Robert's have been emptied
and will again be emptied on a
regular basis. Thanks in advance
for your donations!
The Mary Mother of God Conference has continued
to serve those in need on a limited basis through the
pandemic. With churches being closed and no
collections, our funds have taken quite a hit. Thanks
be to God, we have had to turn no one away. Things
have been manageable because state regulations have
prevented landlords from evicting tenants during this
time, and utility companies have held off on shutting
off service to those who cannot pay. Our concern is
that when those holds expire in July, the demand for
help will be quite high. Please consider making a
contribution, which is really a contribution to help
your friends and neighbors. As always, many thanks
for your help, prayers and support. For more
information, or if you're interested in joining us,
please call Terry, 412-351-3863.
