July brought us HOT and WINDY days and 3 Poker Runs.

Elba Mar, Monroe and Sunseekers put on great events and we were proud to represent our club. Thanks to Membership Chair Bill Deans and Lady Linda for attending each one of these along with Rick and I. It was great to see new members Stacey and Pedro at Monroe and Gene & Debbie Easter at Sunseekers. We have averaged 3 boats at each event, let's try to increase this for the last one at Ford on the weekend of Aug, 18, 19 & 20. The Menus will be playing on Saturday night.

Our Regatta, this year, will be a one day event due to our limited Board. Please check out the flyer for this event. Help is needed in all areas. I would appreciate some help with the dinner on Saturday evening. Contributions of side dishes, salads and desserts would be most welcome. As well, items needed to make up raffle baskets, or an already made up basket would be great. I know, you must get tired of all these requests for food and items, but this is the ONLY way we can keep our costs down. The $5 wrist band fee is to offset the cost of the band and remember, this is a BYOB event.

Please contact me at [email protected] if you can be of assistance.

Greetings to all past, current and the many new members that have shown interest in our amaz-ing club. As you know, Izzie and Rick have taken over a club in dire straights and have brought back the interest from club members this club deserves. Many thanks to both Izzie and Rick and our other executive members Sherie and family, Bill Deans, Keith Postma. Has been a busy year both personally and especially with the club. As you have seen in e-mails from Rick, we do have our Regatta coming up in the next few weeks and really need help from those that have been part of this amazing event for their experience.

Pat and I are available to be here the entire time and look forward to help from members 'THAT KNOW WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE'

Love this club, need your guidance. Look forward to seeing everyone there.

Summer is flying by way too fast. My God it is August already.

Our club is dying a slow and painful death due to the apathy of our members. None of you want to stand up and say YES, I CAN HELP, YES, I WANT TO BE A FLAG OFFICER, YES, I WANT TO BE ON THE BOARD of Directors. If our membership does not start saying YES then our club will die.

As most of the membership knows that our Regatta is coming up in August. We the five people on the board need your help to pull this off this year. Please volunteer. Help is needed in all areas, set-up, ticket sales at the gate, fast food, clean up, etc.

A wink is as good as a nod to a blind horse. Well, with reference to Bill Deans’ request for someone to step into a leadership role, I see a lot of winkers but no nodders. Please don’t trivialize the importance of this as being just bitching, we are in trouble if no one gives the nod. Running the club with no Vice Commodore and no Rear Commodore is insane, but it doesn’t have to be that way. With a full Bridge and everyone doing their small part, the burden is shared and the job is made easy. This year, with 14 new members and a growing interest amid promises to increase even more, our club is thriving again on the path to renewed heights. It would be a shame to see it fail in the face of its rebirth. A Flag Officer is not REQUIRED to attend all functions, but is really backup to the Commodore when needed. You know...... sharing the burden. It is a position of responsibility, sure, but it also puts you among an elite group of people, people who become and remain friends for life. These two years have been par-amount among times to remember and cherish for us, so, put your toe in the water and let me know that you are at least considering a position so we can discuss the details of the job. The fate of our club hangs in the balance.

I truly regret turning in a report like this, but, you DO need to know!!
