The Summit X460 -G2 series is based on Extreme Networks revolut ionary
ExtremeXOS, a highly resilient OS that provides cont inuous upt ime, manageabilit y
and operat ional e ciency. Each sw itch o ers the same high-performance, non-
blocking hardware technology, in the Ext reme Networks t radit ion of simplifying
network deployments through the use of common hardware and software
throughout the network.
The Summit X460 -G2 sw itches are e ect ive campus edge sw itches that support
Energy E cient Ethernet (EEE – IEEE 802.3az) w ith IEEE 802.3at PoE-plus and
can also serve as aggregat ion sw itches for t radit ional enterprise networks. The
Summit X460 -G2 series is also an opt ion for DSLAM or CMTS aggregat ion, or for
act ive Ethernet access.
The Summit X460 -G2 can also be used as a top-of-rack sw itch for many data
center environments w ith features such as high-density Gigabit Ethernet
for concentrated data center environments; XNV™ (Ext remeXOS Network
Virtualizat ion) for cent ralized network-based Virtual Machine (VM) inventory, VM
locat ion history and VM provisioning; Direct At tach™ to o oad VM switching from
servers, thereby improving performance; high-capacity Layer 2/ Layer 3 scalability
for highly virtualized data centers; and int ra-rack and cross-rack stacking w ith
industry-leading exibilit y.
