    Accommodation in Sarajevo can be found in 2 students’ dormitories (Bjelave and

    Nedzarici), youth hostels or in private arrangement. All information about the dormitories

    and Youth Hostel please find at: www.student-centar.ba/sff.php .

  • About ISSS

    International Summer School Sarajevo by School of Economics and

    Business Sarajevo is organized in accordance with the principles set below:

    • Courses within ISSS are carried out in accordance with rules given in courses syllabi, the

    same way the courses during the regular semester within the academic year run.

    • Planned duration of the ISSS is 5 weeks, with 75% of total hours fund and condensed

    way of performing all forms of teaching process.

    • All forms of knowledge testing specified by the syllabi including the final exam are per-

    formed within the ISSS. No additional (correctional) exam terms after the final exams

    are given.

    • Students can take up to two (2) courses.

    • Same rules and regulations as in regular academic year are in force during the ISSS.

    • In-class week implies classes (lectures and tutorials) being held in SEBS classrooms as

    well as direct, face-to-face communication with the teaching staff. On-line week implies

    different way of teaching supported by courseware and Moodle platform. No classes are

    held in regular form in classrooms e.g. no lectures or tutorials are held. Teaching staff

    upload all materials that should be acquired by students, on courseware.

    students). BHS languages—three oficial languages spoken in Bosnia

    and Herzegovina: Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian.

    The School of Economics and Business in Sara-

    jevo (SEBS), established in 1952, is the largest educa-tional institution in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is a lead-

    ing institution in the BH higher education system in the

    creation and dissemination of knowledge in the fields of

    economics and business administration.

    SEBS was the first in Bosnia and Herzegovina to adopt

    and implement a curriculum based on the European

    Credits Transfer System – ECTS (2001/2002) and “3+2+3”

    concept of study (2005).

    An appreciable level of cooperation has been achieved

    with elite schools of economics both in Europe and

    around the world, in efforts to achieve high levels of

    internationalization.

    In 2009 SEBS was awarded the ISO 9001:2008 Certificate.

    In march of 2011, SEBS was accredited by AQA (Austrian

    Quality Agency). SEBS is EFMD (European Foundation for

    Management Development) member and in the process

    of acquiring EPAS/EFMD (European Progremme

    Accreditation System) accreditation as well as the AACSB

    (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of

    Bussiness) accreditation.

  • Experience Sarajevo!

    Sarajevo is the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, it’s largest urban, cul-tural, economical and political center and center of Canton Sarajevo that is

    (according to estimates) home to 429,672 people. Sarajevo is relatively small

    city in comparison with other metropolis of the world, but at the same time

    much more famous than most of them due to Sarajevo’s captivating history

    and fascinating spiritual, multicultural and multinational reality of today.

    Miljacka River passes through Sarajevo and several famous bridges span it,

    including the Latin Bridge close to which the infamous assassination of Franz

    Ferdinand, Archduke of Austria by Gavrilo Princip was performed. The City is surrounded with breath-

    taking nature and Olympic mountains: Jahorina, Bjelašnica, Igman, Treskavica and Trebević, that are

    favored by both citizens of Sarajevo and tourists throughout the entire year.

    With several national and city theaters, museums and cultural institutions Sarajevo represents very

    important location on cultural map of this part of Europe. Every year The City hosts variety of cultural

    festivals with international character, amongst which the most famous ones are: SFF– Sarajevo Film

    Festival (this years SFF is taking place from 22.07.—30.07. parallel with ISSS 2011), Sarajevo JazzFest,

    Summer festival of culture: Baščaršija nights, International theater festival “MESS”, “Sarajevo Win-

    ter”, Experimental theater festival “TeatarFest”, festival of contemporary poetry “ Sarajevo poetry

    days”, children’s festival “Kid’s Fest” etc.

    Urban picture of the City is character-

    ized by numerous sacral objects,

    mosques dating from Ottoman pe-

    riod, orthodox, catholic and evangelis-

    tic churches, synagogue and other

    cultural-historical monuments as well

    as the modern architecture built in

    accordance to the latest trends.
