The Placement Committee of IIM Shillong takes immense pride in announcing the successful completion of the summer placement season for the PGP batch of 2020-22. The stellar performance by the PGP participants stands testimony to the rapid progress made by IIM Shillong and has once again established IIM Shillong as the preferred choice for recruiters.

We express our gratitude to our regular recruiters who have continuously believed in the mettle of our students and have furthered their association with us for another year to facilitate this mutually beneficial relationship. We are also grateful to our new recruiters, who have acknowledged the potential of our students and provided them with a plethora of opportunities.

OVERVIEW:

The Summer Internship Placement process for the academic year 2020-22 has once again affirmed the faith and confidence of the industry in the students of IIM Shillong. The placement season saw participation from a total of 70 recruiters and 250 offers were made to the participants in various domains such as Consulting & Strategy, Finance, General Management, Human Resources & Operations, IT & Analytics and Sales & Marketing.

IIM Shillong hosted some of the biggest names in the industry, including the likes of AB InBev, Amazon, Bain & Co., BPCL,

Cognizant, Deloitte USI, D.E. Shaw, Droom, Emami Agrotech, Goldman Sachs, Google, HSBC Bank, IBM, ICICI Bank, ITC, JSW, Nomura Investment Bank, PepsiCo, Pidilite Industries, TATA Steel, Titan and Yes Bank as prominent regular recruiters.

The institute also saw the participation of several first-time recruiters including Aditya Birla Capital, Amagi Media Labs, Capital Foods, Cipla, Cummins, EY, GamaSec, Godrej, IDFC First Bank, JioSaavn, Lubrizol, Mahindra GMC, Mahindra Logistics, Microsoft, Piramal Group, Shell, Udaan, UnitedHealth Group (Optum) and Xiaomi.

CONSULTING & STRATEGY

SALES & MARKETINGSales & Marketing continued to be the most sought-after domain, accounting for 40% of the total offers received. Recruiters such as Amazon, Droom, Emami Agrotech, Google, ITC, PepsiCo, Pidilite Industries, TATA Steel and Titan continued to bestow their faith in the acumen of the participants and recruited in large numbers. Amagi Media Labs, Cummins, GamaSec, Godrej Consumer Products Limited, Lubrizol, Outlook Group, Piramal Group, SurveySparrow and Udaan were amongst the first-time recruiters. GamaSec, Outlook Group and Pidilite Industries made the highest number of offers.

Prominent Recruiters


Consulting & Strategy domain observed 17% of the total offers from the prominent recruiters. Various roles offered included Advisory, Corporate Strategy and Strategy & Competitive Analysis. Bain & Co., Cognizant Business Consulting, Datawise, Deloitte USI and Droom continued their association with the institute, offering coveted profiles to students while first time recruiters included Cipla, EY and UnitedHealth Group (Optum). Bain & Company made the highest number of offers in this domain.


DOMAIN HIGHLIGHTS

FinanceIIM Shillong has always been a preferred campus for recruiters offering roles in the Finance domain. 15% of the participants received offers in roles such as Digital Transformation, Equity Research, Financial Operations, Investment Banking and Strategic Transaction Group. Aayakar Seva, Cummins, IDFC First Bank, Mangal Credit Fincorp and Tusk Investments partnered with the institution for the first time. Our regular recruiters such as D.E. Shaw, Goldman Sachs, HSBC Bank, ICICI Bank, Nomura Investment Bank and Yes Bank continued to recruit in large numbers. Mangal Credit Fincorp made the highest number of offers in this domain.


GENERAL MANAGEMENTProminent Recruiters

The General Management domain observed increased participation from recruiters including AB InBev, Aditya Birla Capital, Akshaya Patra, BPCL, Hapag-Lloyd, Jio Creative Labs, JSW, Lifelong, Mahindra GMC, Shell, Tiki Tar Industries and Xiaomi from various sectors such as BFSI, E-Commerce, Manufacturing & Retail and Technology, Media & Telecommunication. The domain witnessed an enormous 71% increase in the number of offers made.

IT & ANALYTICS

Human Resources & OperationsHuman Resources & Operations domain witnessed participation from distinguished companies like Air Liquide, Capital Foods, Cipla, Kontinental Steel & Power Limited, Mahindra Logistics, NCDEX, Shree Cement and Titan. The domain witnessed an astounding 90% increase in the number of offers made to the candidates.

DOMAIN HIGHLIGHTS



IT & Analytics domain witnessed participation from a host of recruiters including Amagi Media Labs, Appficiency, Datawise, Droom, IBM, JioSaavn Microsoft and Vumonic. The domain saw diverse roles such as Data Analyst, IT Consultant and Product Manager being offered to candidates.
