Introduction
These tasks have been set over the summer to help prepare students for
Year 11 and they should be completed over the six week break.
In total, the tasks represent between 8 and 10 hours’ work, or the equivalent
of two school days.

Following the End of Year Examination, you will have reviewed the Exam Papers in class. This will have enabled you to identify areas of weakness which you will need to re-revise. Your teachers will also have directed you towards one or two of the seven activities that have been posted on Show My Homework. Physics 3: Latent heat Be able to define and describe internal energy; recall and use the specific heat capacity equation.

2. Prepare answers for the Module 5 General Conversation Questions (p197). Hand these in for checking first lesson back in September.
Written Work 1. Complete exercises 1-4 p116-7. These analyse Rory’s answer to a 150 word Writing Task.
2. Ex 5 p117. Write your own 150 answer – use what you have learnt when analysing Rory’s.
3. Hand in the 150 essay first lesson back in September.

Activity You will complete a French cultural project. You will receive a booklet in class to be completed and handed in on the first lesson in September.

Activity 1. Ensure that you have written full answers to all the questions for modules 1 to 5 in Viva, in preparation for the speaking exam. P 198/199. If you have already done this, move on to 6-8.
2. Make a verb table with the full conjugations of hablar, comer and vivir in the present, preterite, imperfect, perfect, future and conditional tenses. It must be handwritten and you must use a different colour for the endings.
3. Learn the verb endings by heart. It just takes 5 minutes every day. See advice on SMH. If you already know the tenses, do the tables for the irregular verbs: tener, hacer, ser, estar, ir, poder and read how to form and use the present subjunctive. All work to be handed in on the first lesson in September.

Activity Create revision resources for the two topic areas covered in Y10 (1D America, 1920–1973: Opportunity and inequality & Conflict and tension between East and West, 1945–1972). You have been given overview sheets for each area. AT LEAST TWO TASKS MUST BE SUBMITTED. Suggested activities: Create a glossary of all key words used this year. Create a factfile for each key individual covered. Create a time line for each area of the course. Create flash cards with details of the key events. Create mindmaps of each topic.
Preparation for Y11: We will be studying Edward I of England in the autumn term. Use the internet (or library) to read about Edward. Create a fact file TO SUBMIT containing what you think are the 10 most important pieces of information about him.

Activity Write first draft of report for activity 2 This report should show the organisation how you will be able to run the shelter on a grant of £300,000 and also £500,000. You will need to include any assumptions you have made.
You will need to use the information from your spreadsheet to come up with different proposals for your animal shelter.

Create a simple hang man game to include the following:
A set of related words in an array
Words selected randomly from the array
The correct number of characters in the selected word should be indicated on the screen
The player guesses letters from the word and, if these are in the word they are placed in the correct position
If letters not in word player loses one life
The player has six lives
The system should record the letters used by player and not accept these again during the play
Record the number of lives after the word has been guessed and use these as a score
Allow an end user to enter new sets of words. You must include in your write up the following:
Success criteria (what will a successful solution be)
Planning and design (flow charts and pseudocode)
Development (narrative of the process with explanations of code)
Testing and remedial actions (with narrative of changes made)
