MANSFIELD’S SUMMER INSTITUTE: Our program runs from 9AM to 12 Noon, Monday through Thursday. All courses consist of a three hour class per day for four days. WHAT TO BRING:

Children will need comfortable “play clothes”, sturdy shoes, a

snack and a drink. It is a good idea to come with sunscreen

and bug spray already applied if your child will be outdoors.

Check the catalog for any special equipment or supplies

needed for your individual courses.

Aloha! Are you looking to go on a Caribbean vacation this

summer? Come join CHAMPS counselors, Miss Katie and

Miss Mikayla on a fun filled trip to Hawaii! You will be wel-

comed with a flower lei, make your own hula skirt and learn

how to hula dance. Do you love making sand castles? You

will be able to build one and take it home. You will decorate

your very own surfboard and sun glasses so you will be styling

while surfing the ocean waves! You will love your Hawaiian

vacation so much that you will want to stay forever!

Are you interested in owning your own pet? In this class, we

will learn the responsibilities of taking care of a pet. We will

decorate our own pet puppy and make him/her a leash. On the

last day, you can bring in your favorite stuffed animal for our

PET PARADE!

105 PORTRAITS & CARICATURES Amanda Sylvester

Session 4 Grades 5,6,7,8

Do you like to draw people? This course will go

over a variety of methods on drawing people realistically as

well as semi realistic caricatures and mixed media. We will use

a variety of materials such as watercolors, pencils, colored pen-

cils and sharpies.

106 AMERICAN GIRL CLUB Erin Cogan

Do you love American Girl Dolls? If so, then this class is for

you! Come bring your American Girl doll for a week packed

with fun. We will make all new crafts for you and your doll

of the activities will be to make an edible polly polish, shopkins

bottle cap necklace and try to get d’lish donut off a string. Feel

In this class, we will explore art by using nature and the objects

it supplies. We will create images of nature using unique

methods, paint with nature, make objects with leaves and other

plants and feed the birds! We will cover a wide range of arts

Do you love the movie TROLLS, My Little Pony or Rainbows?

Then this is the class for you! Our week will be filled with

Rainbows, Trolls and My Little Pony activities. We will make

Troll headbands, Troll pencils and a Poppy Troll puppet. Let’s

design and make My Little Pony masks and tails to wear, We

will make a beautiful felt rainbow scarf and a rainbow mobile.

It will be so much fun to enjoy being Rainbow Chefs and create

Rainbow marshmallow kabobs. We will also play a few Minute

to Win It games based on our theme. Feel free to bring in a few

of you my Little Ponies and/or Troll figurines to play with.

side down when Harry Potter was dropped off on their doorstep.

Come and experience the world of Harry Potter by getting sorted

into one of the four Hogwarts houses, making wands, making

spell books, decorating cauldron cakes and so much more. Harry

Printmaking. You will create artwork in color and black and

This new class is sure to be a creative and fun one. Come and

join Mrs. Firicano for a week of Painting Lab. You will learn

how to make a painterly brush strike using watercolor, tempera

and acrylic paint. We will create portrait, still life and land-

scape paintings inspired by some of the most influential artists

of the 20th century. So bring your creativity and a friend and

take this fun class!

After an animal introduction to animal drawing techniques,

You will paint a portrait of your pet or favorite animal. on a

wrapped canvas using acrylic paint. You will come away with

keepsake of your pet to treasure!

This hands-on class explores the Art of Collage making. Paint

the materials available to create a number of creative collages.

make one, this is the course for you! In this class, we will read

and discuss different styles of comics and then come up with

home with your own book.

AHOY MATEYS! Climb aboard for a fun pirate adventure.

We will make our own pirate costumes, look for treasures, ex-

Get ready to STEP UP to 3rd Grade with Ms. LePage in this

fun class! Miss LePage is one of Jordan Jackson’s 3rd grade

teachers. Touring the building, exploring the Computer Lab

and learning about life at Jordan Jackson will be just a few of

the many activities we will do together. If you love Art, Math,

Reading or Science, this class is for you! There will be guest

speakers and a PIZZA PARTY! On the last day, we will invite

parents at the end of the class for a question and answer session. THIS CLASS IS A MUST FOR ALL 3RD GRADERS WHO WANT

Calling All Writers for a fun week of creative writing and pub-

lishing. In My own Magazine, you will create original works of

writing which we will put together into a unique magazine you

can call your very own. Creative people of all writing abilities,

publish your work in in a fun friendly supportive environment!

In this fun new class, we will have a fun week

making slime, Gac super balls and Obleck, We

will also do some free style painting on canvas. We will make

many crafts that may include a desk organizer, Worry people

Participants for this class need to bring a digital camera or

smart phone to take photos. In this course, students will learn

different photography and editing techniques. We will be going

outside to take pictures, weather permitting. So come and join

137 SEWING MACHINES 101

Session 5 Grades 4,5,6,7,8

Do you have a sewing machine but are not sure how to use it?

Bring your machine and learn how to set it up, select the right

accessories for your project and use different stitches to create

your own unique sewn craft. You must provide your own sew-

ing machine and it’s accessories, the instruction booklet, a pack

of all purpose machine needles and 3 empty bobbins that fit

your machine. CLASS LIMITED TO 8 STUDENTS!

143 SECRET AGENT ACADEMY Cindy Duarte

Session 3 Grades 2,3

We are looking for the best of the best recruits to join the SE-

CRET AGENT ACADEMY. In this “training” session, the

SAA will train you to create a secret alphabet , learn basic map

skills and compass skills. You will also learn how to go

through a “laser” security system. The SAA will teach new

recruits to decode secret messages. Each morning, the recruits

will need to decode the mission for that day. Do you have what

it takes to be a SECRET AGENT?

class for you! Join us as we make dog crafts, toys and treats,

over the fields. All activities related to the horse are learning

opportunities. On the last day of each session, a LIVE PONY

will come to camp! Campers will be able to groom, pick the

wood? In the class, you choose a project to make, such as a

such as, saws, hammers, clamps and screwdrivers. You’ll learn

how to use these tools appropriately as well as how to paint.

At the end of the week, you will take your project home and

Welcome to Robinson, all kindergarteners! Grab your back-

pack, a snack and get ready to learn all about your exciting kin-

dergarten day. You could be in the dramatic play area during

all come together for circle time to discuss our day and our cen-

ter time “jobs.” Be creative in our Art area—cut, paste, paint,

water color. Each day, we will tour a different area of the school

plus visit the very popular playground, Wonderworks. On Thurs-

day, we will sing a song to show just how ready for kindergarten

The extended day program is staffed with a Coordinator, trained in CPR and First

Come have some fun and learn the tricks of the trade with

Babysitting. This class will prepare you to be better babysit-

ters. Topics include how to provide and care for children of

many ages, how to stay safe, what to do in an emergency, how

to choose age-appropriate activities and how to recognize and

handle a variety of behaviors. You will also learn the basics of

starting your own babysitting business, negotiating payment,

publicizing your talents and networking.

What would another summer of Mansfield’s Summer Institute

be without Mr. Conti and his floor hockey class? No need to

answer because he is back for our most popular class in this

catalog. You will be working on various hockey skills such as

shooting, passing, stick handling and goal tending. Round robin

games will be played each day. There will be a championship

tournament and skills competition on the last day with N.H.L.

autographs and prizes. Boys and Girls are welcome to sign up!

complicated and challenging recipes! Of course, new cooking

themed games will be part of each day and at the end of the

week, each Chef will have a signature dish!

Come and have fun playing games, doing crafts, and galloping

over the fields. All activities related to the horse are learning

opportunities. On the last day of each session, a LIVE PONY

will come to camp! Campers will be able to groom, pick the

hooves and RIDE Napoleon. Ms Perry welcomes all students

with any or no experience. So if you have always wanted to

ride a pony, sign up early as this class is sure to fill..
