MANSFIELD’S SUMMER INSTITUTE:
Our program runs from 9AM to 12 Noon, Monday through
Thursday. All courses consist of a three hour class per day
for four days. At the end of each day, the instructor will
accompany your child outside the school and wait with them
until a parent or guardian arrives for a prompt pick-up.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A MANSFIELD RESIDENT TO REGISTER.
LOCATION:
This year we are happy to be based at the Jordan Jackson
School with some courses being held at the Robinson
Elementary School, Qualter’s Middle School. Outdoor
courses will be assigned an indoor location to meet, rest and
get out of the sun and in the event of rain. Look for our
banners, course room assignments posters and our friendly
staff members to guide you on your first
day of class.

COST:
All courses are $100.00 per session.
Session Two classes will be $75.
GRADE LEVELS:
Please make note of the grade level indicated after each
course name. It reflects the grade your child will be
entering in September 2016.
WHAT TO BRING:
Children will need comfortable “play clothes”, sturdy shoes, a
snack and a drink. It is a good idea to come with sunscreen
and bug spray already applied if your child will be outdoors.
Check the catalog for any special equipment or supplies
needed for your individual courses.

EXTENDED HOURS: Again this summer, we are pleased to offer extended
day care through our “SUMMER OF C.H.A.M.P.S.”
program. We offer the following extended hours for
Mansfield Summer Institute participants for all 5
sessions in the air- conditioned Jordan Jackson cafeteria:
Mon – Thurs 7am –9am $50/session
12pm – 6pm $125/session
The extended day program is staffed with a
Coordinator, trained in CPR and First Aid and friendly,
experienced counselors.

Aloha! Are you looking to go on a Caribbean vacation this
summer? Come join CHAMPS counselors, Miss Katie and
Miss Mikayla on a fun filled trip to Hawaii! You will be wel-
comed with a flower lei, make your own hula skirt and learn
how to hula dance. Do you love making sand castles? You
will be able to build one and take it home. You will decorate
your very own surfboard and sun glasses so you will be styling
while surfing the ocean waves! You will love your Hawaiian

will learn the responsibilities of taking care of a pet. We will
decorate our own pet puppy and make him/her a leash. On the

Do you like to draw people? This course will go
over a variety of methods on drawing people realistically as
well as semi realistic caricatures and mixed media. We will use
a variety of materials such as watercolors, pencils, colored pen-
cils and sharpies.

design and make My Little Pony masks and tails to wear, We
will make a beautiful felt rainbow scarf and a rainbow mobile.
It will be so much fun to enjoy being Rainbow Chefs and create
Rainbow marshmallow kabobs. We will also play a few Minute
to Win It games based on our theme. Feel free to bring in a few

Do you have a sewing machine but are not sure how to use it?
Bring your machine and learn how to set it up, select the right
accessories for your project and use different stitches to create
your own unique sewn craft. You must provide your own sew-
ing machine and it’s accessories, the instruction booklet, a pack
of all purpose machine needles and 3 empty bobbins that fit

We are looking for the best of the best recruits to join the SE-
CRET AGENT ACADEMY. In this “training” session, the
SAA will train you to create a secret alphabet , learn basic map
skills and compass skills. You will also learn how to go
through a “laser” security system. The SAA will teach new
recruits to decode secret messages. Each morning, the recruits
will need to decode the mission for that day. Do you have what

Come and have fun playing games, doing crafts, and galloping
over the fields. All activities related to the horse are learning
opportunities. On the last day of each session, a LIVE PONY
will come to camp! Campers will be able to groom, pick the
hooves and RIDE Napoleon. Ms Perry welcomes all students
with any or no experience. So if you have always wanted to
ride a pony, sign up early as this class is sure to fill..

Do you like to work with your hands and create things from
wood? In the class, you choose a project to make, such as a
birdhouse, bat house, bookshelf, crate, a shelf with hooks, or
any other small wooden project. Be ready tom use hand tools
such as, saws, hammers, clamps and screwdrivers. You’ll learn
how to use these tools appropriately as well as how to paint.
At the end of the week, you will take your project home and
put it to good use!

Come and join Robinson School’s kindergarten teacher, Erica
Ford for this FUN INTERACTIVE READING CLASS! Each
day, we will listen to songs, read alouds and make a reading
game that the children will take home. We will be making the
game MOOSE! Each child will also make their own squishy
board to help learn new first grade high frequency words. This
is a dun, educational class to help prepare your child for first
grade. Sign up early as this class will fill up quickly!
150 THE BABYSITTER’S CLUB Shelley Boen

Come have some fun and learn the tricks of the
trade with Babysitting. This class will prepare you to be better
babysitters. Topics include how to provide and care for chil-
dren of many ages, how to stay safe, what to do in an emer-
gency, how to choose age-appropriate activities and how to
recognize and handle a variety of behaviors. You will also
learn the basics of starting your own babysitting business, nego-
tiating payment, publicizing your talents and networking.

Do you love arts and crafts? Have you ever wondered how to
knit? The Art of Knitting is for you! We will learn the basics
of knitting and stitches using knitting needles. You will also
learn to make scarves and stuffed animals. The possibilities are
endless. So grab a friend and learn a new skill!
146 FRENCH CLUB Beth Donovan and Nora McNeilly
Session 3,4,5 Grades 2,3,4,5,6 Something for everyone in this popular international experi-
ence! You will make a different French food each day, like
crepes (OOH LA LA), croissants, mousse au chocolate and
citron presse (you get to smash ice and squeeze your own lem-
ons!) We will sing French songs and you will even be able to
speak some French too! You can impress your friends by tell-
ing them the what the weather is like, the colors, the ABC’s,
counting and some animals, all in French. You will do a bike
time trial like in the Tour de France, play “boules”, paint like
Monet and make an Eiffel Tower Craft. You’ll beg your family
to take you to Quebec after this class, so sign up now to start
speaking French.
149 KICK OFF TO KINDERGARTEN! Laura O’Sullivan

Welcome to Robinson, all kindergarteners! Grab your back-
pack, a snack and get ready to learn all about your exciting kin-
dergarten day. You could be in the dramatic play area during
free play or maybe color or do a puzzle with a friend. We will
all come together for circle time to discuss our day and our cen-
ter time “jobs.” Be creative in our Art area—cut, paste, paint,
water color. Each day, we will tour a different area of the school
plus visit the very popular playground, Wonderworks. On Thurs-
day, we will sing a song to show just how ready for kindergarten
we will be. Class size is limited to 16 each session, so sign up
early!

Come all Girls and Boys and have some fun while learning to
knit. We will learn how to cast on, start your knitting using the
knit stitch and bind off. Small projects include headbands, ipod/
phone cases, scarves, wash cloths, beanbags, finger puppets or
your own creations. The purl stitch will be introduced when the
knit stitch is mastered. Supplies are included in the class!

If you like to cook, this course is the one for you! In just one
session, you will get to experience cooking breakfast, lunch,
dinner and dessert. You will also play many themed cooking
games in between all the creating. For those that have taken
