Andy Arnold ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

WELCOME TO THE TRON’S SUMMER SEASON 2010After an exhilarating Spring season we go into positive overdrive with anamazing Summer programme. Amongst the highlights will be our newlyformed contemporary drama season – Mayfesto – where we will presenttwo weeks of new plays, previously unseen work, and rehearsed readingsstaged by Tron Theatre Company and some excellent visiting companies withseveral shows on each night – both inside the building and elsewhere.

Tron Theatre Company’s other work includes a high octane new play forchildren in the Easter holidays – Mish Gorecki Goes Missing by SkyeLoneragan – and an outrageous and hugely funny Summer play, Valhalla! aWagnerian romp with a stellar comedy cast headed by the redoubtableJohnny McKnight. Valhalla! follows on from our sell-out success CookingWith Elvis last year and we can’t wait to get started on it.

We also have a very strong line up of visiting companies – two huge hitsfrom last year’s Edinburgh Fringe – Crush, and Martin Lynch’s Belfastproduction The Chronicles of Long Kesh. Also from Ireland we bring awonderful adaptation of Flann O’Brien’s The Third Policeman from thehighly inventive Blue Raincoat; Daniel Kitson will revive 66a Church Road;we have a Gaelic speaking play from Theatre Hebrides, Roghainn Na Daòine, and, continuing the Highland theme, a new production of Iain Finlay McLeod’sI Was a Beautiful Day.

Added to all that we have Refugee Week, the Glasgow Jazz Festival, ScottishYouth Theatre and our own Skillshop productions of adult and youngpeople’s work. No wonder it’s a bumper 32 page brochure you’re holding. And a more detailed Mayfesto programme is to follow.

I hope to see you down here. And remember, the food is great, we have newcomfy bar furniture and, even if you don’t make a show, the Tron is definitelythe place to meet up and chill out.
