+And the Gold Medal Goes to….

www.wix.com I used wix.com, fool proof website making tool, to create a classroom

website for the Kindergarten class at St. Johns. I focused the website on our week-long thematic study of the winter games. This was a great tool to use because it did not require a membership fee and it was very user friendly. For me, wix.com was a proficient and much appreciated median to use when communicating with parents.

Adobe Premier Elements & Webcams

I used Adobe and my computer webcam to also enhance my Olympics Unit. The students researched different countries and sports. I then used my webcam to record them giving reports. I used Adobe to then edit the video clips and burned DVD’s for the parents in the class.

Microsoft Publisher

I used Publisher over the entire course of my placement to create newsletters. I was able to use my knowledge base of the program to train the classroom teacher in it and to create templates for her to use the rest of the school year.

+The “Magic” SmartBoard

I used the Smartboard in the 4 year old classroom everyday I was teaching. We used it for morning meeting and calendar each day. I also utilized for to create custom powerpoints to teach Hand Writing Without Tears. The students responded very well to my application of the Smartboard and it aided greatly in the classroom management of the classroom. The students coined it as “magic” and loved using it!

+Show & Tell With a Twist

I used a scanner to develop a digital portfolio of the students’ animal art work. Their work was then displayed on the Smartboard and the students took turns sharing their work and asking each other questions.

+Starfall is a Technology STAR!

www.starfall.com is a wondrous to use in the early childhood. This tool guided my phonics and English lessons. It is a simple interactive site that students can use to learn letter sounds and to play letter games on. I presented this using the Smartboard and on a computer monitor to the students with special needs.

+Shidonni World

I used Shidonni World as a center activity in the classroom and as a follow-up to our show and tell. The students were engaged as they created their animals and shared stories about them with their peers.

+Dynavox

I used a Dynavox in the 3 year old special education classroom. This tool let me communicate more efficiently with nonverbal students.

+Scanner

I used my scanner to scan to upload the student’s illustrated poems onto my computer. I created a classroom poetry book for the students for our poetry day; and I also uploaded a PDF version of the book to the classroom website for parents to see.
