•Explain CV J-1 Visa sponsorship services to students

•Ensure U.S. host companies meet a list of preliminary requirements (updated version always available on web)

•Educate students on application process, and ensure they indicate to CV they are CAFCE member students. (Let us know in advance if you have a student applying so we can provide best assistance.)

What to Know – Application Process

Train USA is CV’s cultural exchange program which provides the J-1 Visa sponsorship eligible participants need to enhance their skills and gain exposure to U.S. culture and business practices through career-focused internships and training programs.

• Prospective participants must secure an internship agreement with a U.S. host organization, and the university co-op coordinator should send Cultural Vistas the name of the student to Dolly Davidson, [email protected], prior to initiating a sponsorship application. Our dedicated team will ensure CAFCE applications receive priority service. • Both the participant and the host organization submit applications for consideration:

The student should make an application request online at http://culturalvistas.org/programs-for-students-and-professionals/train-usa, making sure to enter the university name/CAFCE in the “how heard” section.

The host company will receive an application to complete and submit for review.• If appropriate for sponsorship, Cultural Vistas will issue the necessary sponsorship documents.• Upon receipt of sponsorship documents issued by Cultural Vistas, the student will schedule a consular interview. • If the J-1 Visa is granted, the participant may enter the U.S. 30 days prior to internship start date. (Note: Canadian citizens are exempt from the consular interview and may gain entry at the U.S. border.)
