QUESTIONS FOR ORAL AND WRITTEN ANSWER - NEW SYSTEM FOR DIGITAL TABLING

A new system for the digital tabling of questions will go live on Friday 17 November.

This system modernises the process of tabling oral and written questions and will replace the

e-tabling system. This will improve the service to Members by, for example, enabling the

tracking of questions, providing information on any queries raised by the Table Office and

sending alerts to Members who are successful in oral questions shuffles. Members will also be

able to delegate authority for tabling questions to their staff.

What will not change?

The daily quota for digitally submitting written questions (up to 20 questions in total).

The daily quota of five named day written questions.

The deadline for digitally submitting questions of 6.30pm or the rising of the House (if earlier)

on each sitting day from Monday to Thursday, and 2.30pm on sitting and non-sitting Fridays

(or the rising of the House if earlier on sitting Fridays).

Page 17: SUMMARY AGENDA: CHAMBER - … · SUMMARY AGENDA: CHAMBER ... Secretary James Brokenshire ... a Minister of the Crown indicates his or her intention to move a minor or technical

Members will still be able to table questions for written and oral answer in hard copy by post or

in person.

There will be no changes to the current arrangements for tabling Early Day Motions or any

other business.

If you have any questions about the new system, or you would like to set up delegate authority

for your staff, contact the Table Office on x3302 or 3303, by email at

[email protected] or in person.
