GREEKSTHE BEST IN TEXAS SHARE THEIRSTORIES, PLANS AND WORDS OFWISDOM FOR RUSH

MICKEY BARTON:PRESIDENT, ZETATAU ALPHAWhat are your contributions to your

    sorority?

I have served as Alumnae/Collegiate Relations Chair-man, Ritual Chairman, and now am lucky enough to be

President. I have learned so much from these experiences.

All my sisters are such blessings.

How are you influential within your campuss

    Greek community?

Being president, I get to meet a lot of people in the Greek

community, and have a strong relationship with advisors

of both my own sorority and the Panhellenic advisor. I

also am part of Order of Omega, and have assisted with

Greek Week and many other activities they plan, which

helps you meet successful and driven members of the

other Greek groups, both men and women.

    What would members of your

    sorority say about you?

ey would say I am a good leader because of my respect

for them and others as well. I respect them, and in turn,

I have earned respect over the years. I also know how to

have a good time with all of them in a responsible way. I

am a good communicator as well, which helps people un-

derstand my most inuential decisions. Sororities struggle

with change, and we have gone through lots of it recently.

I hope they would say it has been a little easier to get used

    to because of my leadership.

What are your plans for your

    chapter this year?

My plans for the sorority this year are, rst and foremost,

to work hard and recruit the best girls coming to Texas

State this fall. We are growing so much as a university, and

these new members are going to make up a huge portion

of us. After this, I want to lead all the girls in a direction of

personal success. I want every individual member to strive

to be a better person in all areas of life.

MORGAN ODOM: ChapterLifeVice President, Alpha Xi DeltaWhat are your contributions toyour sorority?

n 2013 I was oered the position of Chap-

er Life Vice President, which is my current

osition for the Beta Alpha chapter. My job

s Chapter Life includes planning all of our

ate events and sisterhood events, buton

more serious noteI also side as our risk

    management person.

How are you influential within your

    ampuss Greek community?

Being as involved as I have been in AlphaXi Delta has oered me a plethora of op-

ortunities in Greek Life as a whole at UT.

As the coordinator of all of our date events,

get to plan events that my sisters choose

who to bring to. I may be a little partial to

my own awesome date events, but I would

enitely say fratties want to attend them. I

now I get asked to my own date events so

uys can guarantee their spot at our formal

    r our infamous Crush.

What would members of your so-

    rority say about you?

If you ask the girls I have not only been so

lucky to call my sisters, but also my best

friends, they will tell you Im the crazy girl

that will wake them up in the middle of the

night to ask if they want to go to San Anto-

nio just to get away from the stress of school.

But regardless, I think they will unanimously

agree that I am probably one of the [people]

most dedicated and passionate about better-

ing not only our chapter, but Alpha Xi Deltanationally.

What advice would you give girls

    going through rush?

BE YOURSELF. Every girl is nervous, but

ultimately everyone is placed in a sorority

that they will t right in to! So wear com-

fortable shoes, stay hydrated, and enjoy re-

cruitment, because in the end, the sisterhood

    will all be worth it!

ternity. I have guidance and help [from] my

advisor who is a part of the graduate chapter

    in Austin.

How are you influential within your

    campuss Greek community?

I am a leader in the Greek Community.

Although I am the only Sigma on campus,

I still strive to uphold the principles my

    founders founded the organization upon:

service events on campus.is past school
