Item 1 School Photos: 7th Grade student pictures will be taken on Wednesday, August 22 and
8th Grade student picture will be taken on Thursday August 23. Order forms will be sent
home Friday, August 17. Students will need to bring order forms back on picture
day, regardless of whether or not they are pre-paying for pictures.
Item 2 Attendance/Absences If your student is absent from school, or will be late to school, please call the Attendance
Office (986-1377) before 9:00am on the day of the absence. We need your name, your
student’s name and grade, and the reason for the absence or late arrival. The attendance
line is set up with voice mail so you can leave a message 24 hours a day.
Item 3 Checking Your Student In or Out
Checking In: If the student is checking in late to school, please call Attendance line
(986-1377) before he/she arrives to indicate the reason for late arrival. You will not have
to come in to the office with your student if you have called ahead.
Checking Out: When checking your student out of school, you must come to the
Attendance window and sign him/her out. Identification is required. We will then call
your student out of class to come to the office to meet you.
Item 4 Lost and Found: Please make sure ALL personal belongings including water bottles and
lunch boxes are marked with first and last name.

Item 5 Car Riders: All drop-offs and pick-ups will be in the back of the building. In order to
help with congestion, please pull as far forward as you can to allow for multiple drop-offs
and pick-ups at the same time. Please see attached map.
Item 6 Bus Notes: For students who wish to ride the bus home with another student, BOTH
students must bring a parent-signed bus note to Student Administration by 4th hour. The
student who is guest riding will receive a bus pass for that day to give the bus driver. This
pass is needed for the guest rider to board and ride a different bus.
Item 7 Falcon Smart applications are due August 24th and are located on the Falcon Smart
bulletin board. Falcon Smart is a club whose members are Alcohol, Tobacco, and other
Drug-Free (ATOD). We focus on providing ATOD activities for our members as well as
the entire SLMS student body. We strive to educate students on related issues through our
monthly meetings using fun and informative activities and games. Our goal is to
empower our students to make smart decisions when faced with tough choices. See our
attached brochure, schedule of events and application. Everyone who applies, gets
in!!! Applications are due August 24th to the front office. If you have any questions,

Item 8 Student Council Applications are due to Mrs. Lilly or Mr. Campbell on Friday, August
31st. They are located on the Student Council bulletin board.
Item 9 “Annie” Musical Auditions are coming up! Auditions and Stage/Tech Crew
Forms are available on the Theatre Board near the Falcon! Come one, come all!
Stage/Tech Crew Applications are due Thursday, August 23rd.
Audition dates are:
Monday, August 20th: ALL BOYS (7th and 8th) and GIRLS A-L until 5:30 PM
Tuesday, August 21st: GIRLS M-Z (7th and 8th) until 5:30 PM
Wednesday, August 22nd: CALL BACKS (some students, if necessary) until 5:00 PM
Thursday, August 23rd: FINAL CALL BACKS (some students, if necessary) until 4:00 PM
Rehearsals Start: Monday, August 27th after school

Item 10 School Trip: Don’t miss out on the Falcon Flight to D.C. & Williamsburg! Trip dates are
May 29-June 1, 2019 with a registration deadline of November 2018. For more
information contact Mr. Campbell or Mr. Walker or register online at
www.worldstrides.org (trip ID# 164847) For those interested we will be holding an
informational parent meeting Tuesday, August 28th, at 6:30 in the Media Center.

Item 12 Skate Night: Lee's Summit Cares is sponsoring the first 3-Middle School Skate night for
this school year. This is a fun way to kick off the school year with your friends and a
great opportunity to meet other Middle School students from BCMS and PLMS. Grab a
few friends and join in on the fun! (see attached flyer)
