When you first read it, curiosity builds up in your mind, and towards the end, you suddenly understand the whole story. ULTIMATE Summer Reading Challengers! Congratulations to the students below for their amazing efforts in completing the ULTIMATE Summer Reading Challenge and reading & reviewing at least 5 books! You will be receiving prizes in assembly soon! Follow these steps: 1.Open the Accelerated Reader shortcut on the computer desktop, and log in. 2. Click on the middle orange AR icon. Type in the title of your book, and take the quiz! 3. Once you have finished your quiz, click Print TOPS Report. This can be filed in the back of your English exercise book. Author Spotlight: Elizabeth Acevedo Us'. All proceeds from raffle sales are Elizabeth Acevedo is an Afro- Dominican writer and poet. She has degrees in performing arts and creative writing, & is a National Poetry Slam champion. When she was younger, she would constantly come up with ideas for stories or songs. She says: 'I wanted to sing but didn’t have a great voice, so I turned to hip-hop. I wanted to rap - and then discovered poetry slams.' In The Poet X, 15 year old Xiomara works through family tension and conflict by writing poetry. In new novel With The Fire On High, the one place Emoni Santiago can let everything go is in the kitchen, where she adds a little something magical to everything she cooks, turning food into straight-up goodness. to be donated to the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust. Remember - once you have finished your book, try and take your reading quiz as soon as

possible! Follow these steps: 1.Open the Accelerated Reader shortcut on the
