SEO London/Careers CV Coaching Document
Keys to making a Googley CV
Why a Good CV is Important
This is the first glance a firm has on you and your Brand – you can have great experience and grades, but a bad resume
won’t showcase what a recruiter is considering for the vacant role. Google receives thousands of applications per week
and recruiters take, on average, 7 seconds to decide whether an applicant will be considered based solely on the CV. It is
important to not only show your responsibilities but also your impact. Remember to be concise, relevant, and to the
point.

How to Formulate Your Work Experience
It is not enough to list a host of duties and tasks. To have a compelling CV, you MUST include achievements.
A simple formula for quantifying any experience that will transform your CV from a list of duties into achievements:
Accomplishment [X] as measured by [Y] by doing [Z]
Start with an action verb, numerically measure the accomplishment, and detail what you did to achieve this.
Example: “Served 85 customers per day with 100% accuracy by paying attention to detail and ensuring positive customer
interaction.”
Tip: Rather than a task or responsibility, this is a strong metric to represent an accomplishment at a grocery store.
Example: “Increased social media following by 50% over two weeks by increasing activity, following and tagging key
figures, and effectively marketing a social media event.”
Tip: Having a social media presence or running a blog are jobs/hobbies that Google is interested in seeing on a CV.
Example: “Increased website traffic tenfold by implementing Google AdWords and establishing a social media presence.”
Tip: Knowledge, awareness, and familiarity with Google products is a positive way to be recognized by a Googler.
