How to Formulate Your Work Experience

It is not enough to list a host of duties and tasks. To have a compelling CV, you MUST include achievements.

A simple formula for quantifying any experience that will transform your CV from a list of duties into achievements:

Accomplishment [X] as measured by [Y] by doing [Z]

Start with an action verb, numerically measure the accomplishment, and detail what you did to achieve this.

Example: “Served 85 customers per day with 100% accuracy by paying attention to detail and ensuring positive customer

interaction.”

Tip: Rather than a task or responsibility, this is a strong metric to represent an accomplishment at a grocery store.

Example: “Increased social media following by 50% over two weeks by increasing activity, following and tagging key

figures, and effectively marketing a social media event.”

Tip: Having a social media presence or running a blog are jobs/hobbies that Google is interested in seeing on a CV.

Example: “Increased website traffic tenfold by implementing Google AdWords and establishing a social media presence.”

Tip: Knowledge, awareness, and familiarity with Google products is a positive way to be recognized by a Googler.
