Street Child Project Women’s empowerment Weekly group meetings - managed by an elected committee of members employ a participative approach in enabling women to find and make use of tools to better support their children. Social work Intensive casework and assistance to over 45 disadvantaged families to access birth registration, local services, employment, and healthcare, carried out by a local social work team. Educational support Three non-formal sessions delivered daily in a safe and accessible classroom for over 40 children (aged 6-20) to gain homework support. Pre-school programme All-day formal education programme for 15 children (aged 3-5) run by two teachers, helping to ensure children have the best start possible. Recreational activities Programme of sport and group activities complementary to children’s school timetable organised to offer a safe, alternative space to spend free time off the streets. Health advocacy Comprehensive health monitoring and first aid for children and carers provided, mainly through building links and partnerships within the local community. MCT works with our in-country partner FAPE, to deliver our Street Children Project based in a social drop-in centre in Taroudannt – Centre Amane. We employ a holistic approach to support vulnerable children and their families to address daily challenges they face and which can prevent them from fulfilling their potential. Our services at Centre Amane include: educational support, a pre-school programme, recreational activities, health advocacy, and a women’s empowerment project – all underpinned by social work.
