    CONCLUSION

Learning to write in either the first orsubsequent is a complex process that takestime, effort and practice.

There are two major areas to master: themechanical aspect of writing the letters of thealphabet, learning spelling and grammatical

rules; and the syntactic and organisationalaspects of writing so that what is written isintelligible to others.

  • 7/29/2019 Strategies on English Paper 2

    59/61

When teaching writing skills, teachers need

to decide which areas their students need to

develop and improve. Writing skills should betaught systematically. Class work should not

concentrate on the syntactic and organisational

areas of writing until students are competent in

    the mechanical area.
