Assignment #2
The names of the stores were recognizable due to their size and “branding”.
Based on the branding of each store, the branding was throughout each store, from end caps, sale signs, plastic bags, cashier lines, etc.
Contemporary music was playing at a reasonable sound when entering each store. Time of day, definitely contributed to the type of music played.
Floors were either concrete or tile floors that were extremely shiny and matched the décor of the store.
Lighting was extremely bright and inviting, that created a clear pathway to each aisles
Aisles were wide to accommodate people and their carts Merchandise was stacked easy and accessible. Items that
people bought most were located on the middle shelves.
Generally, majority of the personnel were pleasant and all but one (Ross) wore company issued uniforms Cashiers at; Target, Ross and Kroger were generally happy and held conversations outside of the company sales script Every cashier looked to be in their 20’s except for Ross, where the cashiers were older
Most noticeable products were chips, cookies or batteries on the end caps.
All products were neatly stacked and strategically placed on shelves
Items that were considered high demand items seem to be strategically placed throughout the store
Majority of customers where shopping with someone else. Depending on the day (weekend) they would bring their children along
Majority of the customers entered and the store and took off in different directions, depending on their needs
Many customers had to feel, touch or read the back of an item, before they would put it in their basket
The average shopping time was 30 minutes
During the weekday and Saturday, I noticed majority of the shoppers shopping by themselves
On Sunday, I noticed mainly families shopped Saturday, mainly retail stores were packed
with single shoppers and/or couples. In the afternoon the music was very mainstream, upbeat and contemporary
Sunday, mainly grocery stores were packed with families and the music that was played was mainly soft music.
