ROOM 115 – CLASS NEWS
WHAT HAVE WE BEEN UP TO?This week we continued Unit 1 in math.
This unit focuses on multiplication and divisionword problems. We practiced solving morecombination and comparison problems and set upequations to solve word problems. We alsolearned how to solve algebraic chains. Studentswill be tested on Unit 1 next week.
We continued working with our IBPlanner, titled The Human Machine . This week wefocused our inquiry on the circulatory system andthe respiratory system. We located our pulse andmeasured our heart rate after doing some physicalactivity. Next week, we will focus our inquiry onour skeletal and muscular systems.
In spelling we focused on words with thelong e and long u sound. Please remember that allof our spelling work is done at school, but weencourage students to study and practice at home.A great website for practice and games with ourspelling words is www.spellingcity.com .
This week we also finished up our MAPtesting for the fall. Those results will be shared at
conferences. We have a couple of volunteer
opportunities: we really need art helpers (seeother side), and we need volunteers to help withcamp fundraising (see the attached letter). Thankyou for considering this…Have a great week!
