Walker floor boxes are ideal for both low- and high-densityapplications, and for providing cost-effective wire and cablemanagement in open space areas. While traditional floor boxesdon’t allow for much job-specific selection, Walker floor boxesare designed to fit almost any project, and any decor. To determinewhich floor boxes are best for your job, consider the following:

Workstation RequirementsStart by determining which services are required at the workstation. If the workstation requires power but not communications, then asingle-gang box is needed. If multiple services are required, multi-gang boxes must be used, and it’s also necessary to determine howmany communications jacks are needed, and whether they will bemounted flush or recessed.

AestheticsAfter determining your workstation requirements, choose floorbox covers that support those needs – and the aesthetics of the job.Walker floor boxes accommodate a wide array of covers, enablingyou to easily fit any application to any decor, while providing auniform appearance throughout the entire job. Both round andrectangular covers are available.

Round covers are available in:• solid brass• painted zinc die-cast in gray, black and ivory• nonmetallic in black, gray, ivory, bronze and aluminum

Rectangular covers are available in:• solid brass and brushed aluminum• nonmetallic in black and brown

Job Specific Conditions:When choosing the right floor box, it’s also important to considerthe specific job requirements. If the application is on-grade, a castiron floor box or an approved on-grade stamped steel floor boxmay be needed. If the application is above-grade, a stamped steelbox may be appropriate. Nonmetallic floor boxes can be used as acost-effective alternative to stamped steel or cast iron when budgetconstraints are an issue. And for various depth concrete pours, floorboxes are available in both shallow and deep versions. Also, makesure the floor box has the required space or depth to accommodatepower and communications requirements and can support coversthat match the project’s aesthetics.

All these factors must be considered when choosing a floor box.The next sections of this brochure will guide you through each ofthe Walker floor box systems and their individual capabilities.

Beforechoosing afloor box,know yourneeds.
