SERVICINGAMERICA’S ENERGYSTI GROUP began at Southeast Texas Metal Works in 1978 under the

leadership of Richard Purkey. The company’s humble beginnings

included 8,000 square feet of shop space and employed just two

people. The business started slow but soon progressively expanded.

Mr. Purkey’s key to success was the relationships he developed and

the grassroots way of doing business. In 1989, Paul Spence was

given the responsibility of managing the company. The company

is now known as STI GROUP.

STI GROUP presently has over 400,000 square feet of

indoor fabrication facilities throughout distributed locations.

Under Mr. Spence’s leadership the company has branched

out into a multifaceted structure that is inclusive of many

industrial markets and services.
