The STEYR MONOBLOCK is a highly efficientsingle casting from special high tensile alloy. Thedesign shows a “free liner”, with a uniform andmost effective cooling jacket, valve seats from“Stellit” material, inserted valve guides. Due tothe fact that the design is free from high torquecylinder head bolts and cylinder head gasketthere is no deformation to the roundness of thecylinders, no extra stress from differenttemperature levels.

Only a MONOBLOCK design offers an unlimitedflow of cooling water to provide a uniform andeffective cooling in the most critical upper sectionof the cylinder line, while conventionalcylinderblock / cylinderhead – design alwaysresult in “hot spots” and extra stress due todifferent temperature levels and cylinderheadbolts.

Durability, Safety, robust Cooling behaviour werethe guidelines of the design and led us to thisunrivalled product range of compact High SpeedDiesels.

The STEYR MONOBLOCK engine family isequipped with a high pressure STEYR UnitInjector with two stage injection nozzle and upto 2000 bar injection pressure. Design andmaterial selection have been specifically matchedto operate the engines with many types andqualities of diesel fuels like Diesel (F54, EN 590ff),Kerosene (JP8 / F34) or Maritime Diesel fuel.

The environmentally friendly HYBRID SOLUTION marks a new chapterin the history of pleasure boat propulsion systems. It not only assureszero emission and low speed manoeuvring in harbours, noiseless driveon inland waters and nature reserves, but also eliminates the need forseparate generator units for other onboard equipment. The “zeroemission” electric drive mode allows a speed of 5 knots using solelyelectric propulsion and switches to the combustion engine with an easyturn of the ignition key.

The ingenious propulsion then gets “boosted” by the electric drive andenables quicker acceleration, lowering fuel consumption, improvingresponse and dynamics. Significantly reduced maintenance costs andimproved ease of service are further irrevocable arguments that STEYRMOTORS is introducing a serious technological novelty.
