Stewart Road Traffic Calming Constituent Newsletter, 18th February, 2018 Dear ____________________: While I have received a lot of positive feedback on the new Stewart Road speed humps, some constituents have complained that they are too high and too frequent, and have called for their removal. Therefore, I am polling everyone on this newsletter list - please let me know whether you see the speed humps as beneficial to the neighborhood, or want them to be removed. In my view, they do a good job of calming traffic and making this residential street more pedestrian-friendly. I would support reducing the general speed limit from 30 mph to 25 mph, so that vehicles are already traveling closer to the 20 mph required to safely drive over the humps. I dislike them because they work, they remind me it's a residential neighborhood with heavy foot and bike traffic and they slow me down! I assume folks that want them removed also want them removed because they are functioning as designed and slowing people down. I also assume the complainers mostly don't live in that area.
