MINISTRY VISION AND PASSION __________________

My ministry vision is to use my twenty years of business, legal and church leadership in combination with my theological and pastoral training to change lives –and the world –for Christ. My gifts include leadership, casting vision, administration (through teambuilding and coordination) and communication (including preaching and teaching). As a leader, I employ an educate-motivate-participate model. I work best with a team, developing and deploying team member resources to accomplish a goal. My ministry passion is to help individuals discover and live the truth of God’s Word as they enter into and grow in relationship with Jesus Christ. Through these individuals, as active agents of God’s kingdom, I believe the church can become the light of Christ in the world it was intended to be. My ministry philosophy is rooted in Ephesians 2:10. Using my own divine design, I want to help others discover their own and “walk” in it.

PERSONAL BACKGROUND AND TESTIMONY_______________________________________________

My Childhood: I was born in Dallas and graduated from Highland Park High School (Dallas) in 1980. My father was an engineering professor (SMU) and management consultant and my mother was a high school science teacher. I was raised in the Christian Church and a Christian home.

My Conversion, Growth and Calling: The youngest of three children, I was baptized after confession of faith at age eight. In my late twenties I strayed from the Lord, challenged my beliefs and found myself at the brink of personal disaster. I cried out to God and He saved me – a testament to His Grace, His assurance of salvation and the power of the Holy Spirit. I considered seminary at that time, but elected to pursue a law career and lay ministry. God knew I was not ready. In 2006, my middle daughter was severely injured in a horrific bus accident. The Lord saved my daughter, but two of her friends were killed. God again exhibited the power of His Spirit and vividly showed me that He, not I, was in control. I felt His call toward a deeper relationship and started seminary classes in Fall, 2007. In 2009, I sold my law partnership in order to attend Dallas Seminary full time.

My Family: While my boast is in Christ first, my family is a close second. I have been married to

Jeanette since 1984. We met at Texas A&M and were married after graduation. After working as an accountant, Jeanette spent many years as an at-home mom, dedicated to raising our three daughters in a Christian environment. Jeanette has been active in children’s and women’s ministry throughout her life. She is skilled in elementary school-age programs and is known as the VBS “General” at our church. She recently completed several years of staff leadership in our local Bible Study Fellowship chapter. She now has returned to the work force as business manager for our local community theater. We have three beautiful daughters: Jeana, born 12/15/87, a vocal performance graduate of Oklahoma City University working in New York; Allison, born 4/24/89, an environmental design graduate of Texas A&M pursuing her Masters of Architecture at University of Texas; and Annie, born 7/29/94, a graduating senior at West Brook High School in Beaumont and off to Texas A&M in the fall. All three girls are committed Christians, active in their own ministry.

My Interests and Hobbies: Since the 2006 accident, I have been president of a non-profit organization, National Association of Bus Crash Families/West Brook Bus Crash Families. By God’s grace, that organization has resulted in seat belt laws for school buses and chartered motorcoaches in Texas. Our work continues at the local, state and national levels. While full time seminary has limited my extracurricular time, my hobbies include theater arts and spending time at the beach with my family.
