Evaluation? What have I learned from this step? / How will it help me make an excellent media product?
1. Choose a TV commercial and answer the following questions/complete the tasks:
i. What is the product and who are the company selling it?
Pick out 1 of each of the following. Describe it and explain its effect:
Camera shot type Camera angle Camera movement Transition/edit
ii.
iii. What are their brand values?
iv. Describe the use of diegetic / non-diegetic sound – how does it help persuade audiences to spend their money on this product?
v. Mise-en-scene – pick out aspects of setting, lighting, costume, acting, props & dialogue – describe them and explain their effectiveness.
vi. Consider the logos and the screen graphics – describe them and explain their effectiveness.
vii. Add some screengrabs.
2. Make a ppt. presentation that defines and gives picture examples ofall of the different ways to advertise – e.g. print; viral; geurrilla etc.
3. Upload this presentation to your blog
4. The persuasive strategies used by advertisers who want you to buy their product can be divided into three categories: Pathos Logos Ethos WRITE A BLOG ENTRY WITH A DEFINITION FOR EACH
5. Use the Internet to find at least one print advert from each of the three categories; pathos, logos, ethos. - Assemble the adverts in a PowerPoint
presentation, using one slide for each category. - Annotate (label) each all adverts explaining how
they fit into the category.
6. Upload this presentation to your blog
7. Choose a product or service and select 1 print advert and 1 TV advert for the same product. Make a ppt. presentation which analyses the 2 adverts - clearly headed up under the sections – Media Forms Audience Institutions Representation

8. Think about your OWN PRODUCT OR SERVICE – create a blog post explaining – details about the product; price per unit; target audience – at least 5 different advertising methods you would use to promote it.
9. Annotate 2 print adverts for a similar product.
10. Design your own logo for the product – blog it
11. Sketch a draft print advert– (magazine ad. or poster) - or a digitally created ‘mock up’ – blog it
12. Use Photoshop (or similar) to make the final print advert
13. Storyboard a 30 second commercial for your product
14. Evaluate your productions
