STCS Weekly Update November 9, 2017
CELEBRATING 65 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE IN FAITH FORMATION AND ACADEMICS
St. Theresa Catholic School
Dear Parents,
The end of the first trimester is Friday, November 10. Progress Reports will be available
on November 16. Please contact your child’s teacher with any questions.
Tonight we have the Opioid Presentation in the Parish Hall from 7-8pm with Polk County
Medical Examiner Dr. Gregory Schmunk and Bob Kock. This meeting will provide some
much needed information for families. This is for high school students and adults only.
We are in the process of scheduling a presentation for 7th grade and one for 8th grade.
Parents of those students will be invited to attend those presentations too.
Our School Board continues their work developing a steering committee that will lead our
Strategic Planning set to begin later this fall. We will be using the National Standards and
Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Schools and School Strategic Planning Initiatives. We
are going to take a deep look at our parish school and chart our future direction. This will
take input from many and will include parish involvement too. Look for more news to
come soon!
Our Mock Trial teams compete tomorrow at the Polk County Courthouse beginning at
8:30. They have worked very hard with Coaches Rachael Seymour and Jules Ofenbakh to
be prepared for competition. Good luck to all! Competition will continue on Monday for
those teams who advance. We hope to be two of those teams!
Thank you to everyone for making PTC Harvest Night so successful! It was a great night
and continues the Harvest Night tradition of community and fun!
Tomorrow we will honor veterans at 8:35 mass. The Boy Scouts will honor the flag.
There will be a reception for the veterans in the Media Center following mass. Several
veterans will speak in classrooms following the reception. Thank you, Megan Willard, for
planning this special day to honor our very own veterans!
Please keep our 2nd graders, their parents and their teachers in your prayers as they con-
tinue their faith journey to 1st Reconciliation next week.
Congratulations to Ronda McCarthy who has been named to the Governor’s STEM Adviso-
ry Council! Congratulations 8th graders Ella Spanovic and Mason Tran who will be hon-
ored at the annual Optimist Luncheon on November 14 for their service and leadership!
Congratulations to Chloe Burrows, Annamaria Dimon, Ethan Rosendahl and Tre Salazar
for making the SCIBA Honor Band! It was a great concert at Centennial on Tuesday!
With prayers,
Ellen Stemler
